Reporting to the VP of Engineering, you'll combine hands-on technical leadership - reviewing code, writing and iterating on prompts, and guiding architecture decisions - with day-to-day leadership of a growing team of software and prompt engineers. This role is ideal for someone who has personally built and deployed production AI systems and is ready to bring that experience to leading others., Technical Leadership * Lead a team of software engineers, principal engineers, and prompt engineers building the conversational AI systems behind Tom. * Own day-to-day technical decisions for the team without depending on architects for routine calls; partner with architecture on larger solution design. * Conduct code reviews and set the standard for engineering and architectural best practices across the team. * Coach team members on execution standards, technical growth, and career development. Hands-On AI & Prompt Development * Write, test, and iterate on production-grade prompts powering Tom's conversational AI agents. * Stay directly engaged in the technical work rather than directing exclusively from a distance. * Build process and structure around the prompt development lifecycle, including requirements traceability and unit testing discipline. Cross-Functional Partnership * Partner closely with Product Management to translate ambiguous, fast-moving requirements into organized, testable delivery. * Ensure the team stays focused on the right priorities as they evolve. * Represent the team in informal and occasional formal settings with company leadership.
