We are looking for a Tier II Network Engineer/Configuration Management Network Technician to support an IC program delivering network support to the customer's various wide area networks (WANs) and local area networks (LANs). The primary role for this position is support the customer's computer data communications systems, in providing design specifications, testing and inspections for computer networks; plan and implementing upgrades; analyzing, organizing, and troubleshooting corresponding hardware and software combined solutions through network modeling. Expected to create detailed technical drawings or plans for IT networks, function as support developer and draft engineering designs and drawings from preliminary design concepts. This position will provide support to an enterprise level infrastructure across multiple classifications. The Network Engineer/CM Technician responsibilities will include: * Support the installation and maintenance of the client LAN/WAN devices. * Create and maintain an up-to-date record of all system components (hardware and software). Illustrate physical locations and links between each item. * Respond to and resolve incident tickets. * Establish and maintain consistency of a system or product performance, functions, and physical attributes with its requirements, design, and operational information. * Draft and implement standard network change requests. * Coordinate with external Configuration Management stakeholders across the ecosystem where required. * Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades. (Knowledge of CISCO/Juniper RMA process). * Layer 1 and Layer 2 network experience (CAT5, SM/MM Fiber, Serial cables, SFP). * Develop policy for documenting and changing baseline project configuration items. * Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (VLAN's, Port Security, Thin Configs). * Utilize complex network analysis tools to identify and correct problems in the network while maintaining logs and records associated with reported problems or situations. * Familiar (doesn't need to be a SME) with Layer 3 protocols such as OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE.
