You work fluidly with networking, operations, and product teams and communicate technical complexity clearly * We believe this role requires someone who thrives under meaningful responsibility. Someone who understands that every call handled well is an opportunity to help, support, and ultimately save lives ## Description Axon 911's Carbyne Voice team is building the infrastructure that handles emergency calls - in the cloud. This is not a monitoring layer on top of existing telephony; it is the actual call-handling engine, responsible for every packet, every route, and every millisecond of uptime in a life-critical system. As a Senior VoIP Engineer, you will help design, build, and maintain this infrastructure, ensuring that no call fails - ever. Your work will directly influence the reliability of 911 dispatch for PSAPs across the country, while advancing one of the most novel cloud-native voice platforms in public safety. This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of four days per week in our Manhattan office. What You'll Do * Design and develop cloud-based voice infrastructure handling SIP routing, call state management, and redundancy for emergency 911 systems * Build and maintain integrations with telephony providers, PSAPs, and external partners, ensuring end-to-end call reliability in production environments * Drive major features and architectural evolution of the voice platform * Collaborate closely with operations, networking, and engineering teams to ensure system visibility, reliability, and alignment on infrastructure changes * Participate in on-call rotations or incident response for production voice infrastructure, given the zero-failure requirement of the system, We collect personal information from applicants to evaluate candidates for employment.
