Agent guide: [/agents.md](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/agents.md). --- # Accessible Technology Specialist (COMPUTER RESC SPEC 1) - **Company:** University of California, Davis - **Location:** Davis, CA, United States (Remote available) - **Experience:** Experienced - **Salary:** $64,147.0 - **Contract:** Permanent contract - **Skills:** Microsoft Windows, Optical Character Recognition (OCR), VoIP, Spreadsheets, Cloud Storage, Databases, Desktop Computing, Google Docs, Mobile Application Software, JAWS Scripting Language, Microsoft Office, Student Information Systems, Tablet Computers - **Published:** July 9, 2026 - **Apply:** https://diversityjobs.com/main/sendform/8/8/28176/1/17525017?backUrl=%2Fcareer%2F17525017%2FAccessible-Technology-Specialist-Computer-Resc-Spec-1-California-Davis ## About the Role Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position * High School Diploma and/or equivalent experience * Minimum 2+ years' experience in working in college setting in Disability services or similar work environment. * Experience providing tech support/trouble-shooting for devices such as computers, tablets, & mobile devices, and providing tech support/trouble-shooting for computers, tablets, & mobile devices, in the context of multiple operating systems, software programs, apps, and cloud storage services (e.g., Windows, Mac, Google, etc.), for students who must use their own personal equipment. * Experience using accessible/assistive devices, software, apps, on-line services, and web/mobile applications such as Livescribe Smartpens, assistive listening devices, ABBYY, ClaroRead, Dragon Naturally Speaking, JAWS, SensusAccess, Google Docs, Box.com, etc. * Experience creating electronic text and alternative formats including using optical character recognition to convert to various formats (e.g., .doc, .rtf, .pdf, .jpeg, .mp3, .epub, .mobi, Braille). * Experience interacting with individuals of varying ages, roles, and cultural backgrounds in person, through email, telephone, video conferencing, VOIP, or IM and researching new technologies and implementing for departmental needs. * Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, provide training and support for accessible technologies, respond effectively to inquiries, and maintain confidentiality of student and disability-related information. * Interpersonal and oral communication skills to provide individual and small group technical training, demonstrate, support, and trouble-shoot accessible technologies, and respond to questions, providing information/services within position scope, and to make referrals to appropriate resources. * Knowledge of confidentiality requirements and ability to protect and maintain confidentiality and security of student information, including disability- related information., * Experience entering data into database, in preparing & presenting training materials, working with various office equipment (fax, copier, scanner). * Experience preparing accessible documents, reports and spreadsheets and in editing and proof reading for spelling, accuracy, and syntax using software such as MSOffice or Google Docs. * Skill to learn database(s) specific to Student Disability Center functions, and other specialized technology. * Knowledge of accommodations process, SDC policies, procedures, and services for students. * Knowledge of University policies and procedures and applicable federal mandates for electronic accessibility., * Chemicals, dust, gases, or fumes - Never 0 Hours * Loud noise levels - Never 0 Hours * Marked changes in humidity or temperature - Never 0 Hours * Microwave/Radiation - Never 0 Hours * Operating motor vehicles and/or equipment - Never 0 Hours * Extreme Temperatures - Never 0 Hours * Uneven Surfaces or Elevations - Never 0 Hours Mental Demands * Sustained attention and concentration - Continuous 6 to 8+ Hours * Complex problem solving/reasoning - Continuous 6 to 8+ Hours * Ability to organize & prioritize - Continuous 6 to 8+ Hours * Communication skills - Continuous 6 to 8+ Hours * Numerical skills - Continuous 6 to 8+ Hours * Constant Interaction - Frequent 3 to 6 Hours * Customer/Patient Contact - Frequent 3 to 6 Hours * Multiple Concurrent Tasks - Frequent 3 to 6 Hours ## Description Under general supervision, demonstrate, provide training, assist students with set-up and configuration, and trouble-shoot wide variety of accessible technologies for students with disabilities; prepare and present training materials. Train SDC students individually and in small groups to use accessible technology and software such as Livescribe Smartpens; SensusAccess; ClaroRead; Otter.ai, Sonocent, Dragon Naturally Speaking; and JAWS. Assist in coordinating the conversion and distribution of electronic/alternative media for students with disabilities (expediting and tracking the conversion process, including seeking publisher permission, researching outside sources, verifying copyright-required proof of purchase; scanning and editing; and ensuring timely project completion and delivery). Coordinate loan of accessible equipment to SDC students; keep records, check out/in equipment; maintain equipment and inventory. Other duties as assigned., * 50% - Provide Training/Assistance to Students with Disabilities in Using Accessible and Assistive Technologies * 50% - Assist in Coordinating Alternative Media, Communications, Record-Keeping, and Other Accommodations; Various Departmental Needs, Peaks periods may require extended work hours. This position requires daily on-site presence Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, with periodic remote work only.
