About the Role * Required * BSME, BSEE, or equivalent * 2+ years engineering and technical experience * Proficiency in written and spoken English * Experience using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) * Ability to communicate (oral & written) technical issues to varied audiences (engineering, marketing, & leadership discussions) * Targets and achieves results, sets challenging goals, prioritizes tasks, provides leadership/motivation with little leadership support * Mechanical proficiency or background knowledge of automatic transmissions and engineering processes * High level of organizational skills * Commitment to efficiency and improvement * Preferred * Familiarity with Allison Transmission Products * General knowledge of commercial vehicles and their systems * Transmission Control Systems * Powertrain systems * Driveline systems * Cooling systems * Electrical systems * On Board Diagnostics understanding * Regulatory (GHG, etc.) understanding ## Description * Engage with assigned OEMs and work towards optimized application/installation/integration designs of Allison products * Assist in transmission product development as it pertains to vehicle and engine integration * Convey ATI's design requirements to the customer per Tech Data * Chair and/or attend customer meetings as ATI's engineering representative * Provide product training to customer's engineering and manufacturing teams * Support diagnosis and resolution of vehicle/transmission/system issues at customer engineering and manufacturing facilities * Communicate customer design direction and changes to the ATI engineering and business teams * Facilitate the transfer of specifications, change requests, roll out plans, and software tools between the customer and ATI * Forward information on customer activities relevant to ATIs interests * Interact with the customer's various engineering organizations to provide feedback on ways to improve the ATI products in customer vehicles * Submit improvements and deviations through the Allison business systems Key Performance Measures * Optimized Allison product installation/integration at assigned OEMs, no installation/integration related issues in the field * No unforeseen delays/interruptions in availability of Allison product releases at assigned OEMs because of engineering (including PLT) issues or regulatory issues at assigned OEMs. * Demonstrated ability to effectively troubleshoot powertrain technical issues and resolve (either with or without support from peer CIE's) Competencies and Behaviors * Highest Standards in Everything We Do: * Adheres to core set of values and acts in line with those values * Is trusted by engineering or cross functional peers to deliver on what they commit to in a timely manner * Reflects on mistakes and seeks to proactively address them * Acts with honesty and transparency, surfacing issues and solutions to their management * Takes responsibility to deliver results in the right way * Represents the company's best interest at all * Drive a Positive Customer Experience: * Gains the trust of engineering or cross functional peers through active engagement * Gathers firsthand customer information and provides recommendation to direct management for approval * Responsive to internal and external requests without management support * Builds effective/positive relationships with engineering peers * Thinks through the consequences of actions with department management and engineering peers * Improve the Way the World Works: * Learns and adapts quickly when facing new problems, works to improve department * Can create new ideas and works with direct management to put into practice * Can identify when department process improvement is needed and works without management to implement solutions * Effectively copes with change and shifts gears comfortably * Analyze both successes and failures and improves self, product being worked on, department processes * Leveraging the Power of Teamwork: * Solves problems with engineering or cross functional peers in a professional and constructive way. * Is seen as a team player and cooperates with others within engineering or in cross function team and puts personal interests aside to achieve goals * Demonstrates passion and engagement in working with the functional teams * Participates in engineering or cross functional matrix teams to achieve work outcomes, occasionally leads teams, * Knowledge: INTERMEDIATE: Capable of carrying out most assignments typical of the job or specialty. * Planning: INTERMEDIATE: Plan and organize own work/tasks. * Influencing: INTERMEDIATE: Requires effective interpersonal skills with some need to influence others on matters smaller in nature like departmental projects or procedures. * Empowerment: STANDARDIZED: Supervisor/manager checks in on a periodic basis or after the fact. * Autonomy: SOME LATITUDE: Work assigned with some precedent/procedures. * Financial Impact of Decisions: [COST] Decisions will have impact on a product line and/or OEM's product released revenue stream with supervisory support. * Complexity of situations: PATTERNED: Situations encountered are similar with some choice of solutions. * External Visibility: INFORMING EXTERNAL VISIBILITY: Work is visible externally and could have impact on overall company performance, but most often won't (i.e. required external reporting, communications). * Internal Visibility: * HORIZONTAL: Occasional interactions across multiple functions. * VERTICAL: Interaction with function * Geographic Scope: Engaging/influencing within region across functions.
