Physical Demands * Work primarily in an office environment with extended periods of computer use. * Ability to move between buildings and instructional spaces across campus. * Ability to occasionally lift and transport technology equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. * Ability to access classrooms, laboratories, and equipment rooms as needed. ## Description The IT Director serves as the senior technology leader for the College of Environment and Design (CED), providing strategic vision, leadership, and operational oversight for all information technology resources, services, and technology-enabled learning environments. The position is responsible for developing and implementing technology strategies that support the College's missions of instruction, research, outreach, and administration. The IT Director oversees technology infrastructure, cybersecurity, classroom and studio technologies, technical support services, software and hardware procurement, digital innovation initiatives, and technology budgeting. The position collaborates closely with faculty, staff, students, university leadership, and Enterprise Information Technology Services (EITS) to ensure technology resources are secure, reliable, innovative, and aligned with institutional priorities., The IT Director also serves as a key liaison for technology planning associated with the College's unique instructional and research-focused environments, including design studios, fabrication spaces, laboratories, visualization technologies, and collaborative learning spaces., Does this position have operation, access, or control of financial resources? Percentage of time 20, * IT Operations and Infrastructure Management + Direct and oversee daily IT operations and service delivery. + Ensure reliability, security, and performance of technology infrastructure. + Coordinate support for servers, storage systems, networking, cloud services, and endpoint devices. + Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans. + Ensure compliance with university cybersecurity standards, inventory, removal of equipment, and other policies. + Serve as the College liaison to EITS on security and compliance matters. + Develop IT related reports, policies, and procedures and provide timely updates and communications. Percentage of time 20, User Support and Customer Service * Lead delivery of technical support services for faculty, staff, and students. * Establish service standards and performance metrics. * Oversee help desk operations, set priorities, and issue escalation processes. * Promote a culture of responsive and proactive customer service. * Direct and oversee additional CED support, as needed. Percentage of time 20, Technology Support * Ensure effective operation of classroom, studio, instructional and research areas, laboratory, office, and presentation technologies, especially regarding software and hardware implementation. * Support technologies used for instruction, online learning, research, and staff operations. * Collaborate with faculty on technology solutions that enhance teaching, learning, and research. * Provide resources, training, and clear communication for faculty, staff, and students. * Evaluate emerging technologies relevant to landscape architecture, historic preservation, urban planning, environmental design, GIS, visualization, and digital fabrication. Percentage of time 20, Personnel Management and Professional Development * Supervise IT staff and student employees. * Establish goals, evaluate performance, and provide professional development opportunities. * Participate in recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and retention efforts. * Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
