 * CompTIA A+, Server+, or Network+ certification.
 * Experience with:

 * Rack-and-stack deployments
 * Structured cabling
 * Enterprise server hardware (Dell, HPE, Cisco, Lenovo)
 * Familiarity with Windows Server or Linux operating systems.
 * Previous experience in a data center, colocation facility, or IT operations environment.
 * Experience using ticketing systems such as ServiceNow, Jira, or similar.

## Description

MetroSys is seeking a dependable and motivated Data Center Technician I to support the day-to-day operations of a mission-critical data center environment in Portland, OR. This role is responsible for providing hands-on support for server hardware, cabling, rack installations, and infrastructure maintenance while ensuring high availability and operational excellence.
This is an excellent opportunity for an entry-level or early-career IT professional looking to build a career in data center operations, infrastructure, or enterprise technology. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and eager to learn enterprise hardware and data center best practices., * Perform rack-and-stack installation of servers, network equipment, and storage devices.

 * Install, label, organize, and troubleshoot copper and fiber cabling.
 * Replace failed hardware components, including:

 * Hard drives
 * Power supplies
 * Memory
 * Network interface cards
 * Server components
 * Perform basic diagnostics and break/fix activities on enterprise hardware.
 * Support equipment moves, additions, changes, and decommissioning activities.
 * Monitor equipment health and respond to infrastructure alerts as directed.
 * Assist with inventory management, asset tracking, and equipment audits.
 * Document completed work, maintenance activities, and infrastructure changes.
 * Escalate hardware, networking, or systems issues to senior engineers when appropriate.
 * Follow established operational procedures and change management processes.
 * Maintain a clean, organized, and secure data center environment.
