Essential skills: * Experience supporting legacy applications and infrastructure. * CI/CD pipeline implementation and support. * Nginx and Apache Tomcat/HTTP Server. * Bash scripting. * Containerisation and virtualisation technologies. * Oracle 11 administration, including RAC, RMAN and Partitioning. * Elasticsearch support and administration. * Experience working with Linux environments. * Experience providing L3 support and incident resolution. Experience with the following would be highly desirable: * Red Hat Enterprise Linux. * Oracle Solaris. * VMware ESX. * Docker. * Python. * Ansible and/or Terraform. * Jenkins. * AWS. * Git. * Java SE 8. * PL/SQL. * Master Data Management platforms. Any exposure to GIS technologies such as OpenLayers, MapServer or TileCache would be advantageous but is not essential. Security Clearance (Essential) Due to the sensitive nature of this programme, candidates must hold active Security Clearance (SC) that has been used on a UK Government client engagement within the last 12 months. Candidates must also hold active NPPV3 clearance, which must have been used within the last 6 months. ## Description Your new company A major public sector organisation is building a dedicated platform team to support a business-critical policing system used across the UK. The environment combines complex legacy technologies with modern DevOps practices, offering a unique opportunity to work on highly secure, large-scale systems that underpin frontline operational services. Your new role As a DevOps / Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting and enhancing a complex application and database estate. Working alongside development and database teams, you'll provide third-line support, implement infrastructure changes, improve automation, and help modernise deployment practices. You'll be responsible for maintaining critical services across Oracle, Elasticsearch and Linux-based environments while driving improvements through CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation. Key responsibilities include: * Supporting and maintaining production infrastructure and legacy applications. * Troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues. * Implementing and supporting CI/CD pipelines. * Maintaining technical and operational documentation. * Undertaking peer reviews and adhering to engineering best practices. * Supporting Oracle and Elasticsearch platforms. * Becoming a subject matter expert within your assigned service area. * Contributing to platform improvements and automation initiatives.
