You will report to the Director of Product Engineering and work in the Product Engineering squad. NOS is the software platform behind one of the largest nuclear buildouts in the United States, and this role builds the APIs, services, and data access the products run on. This is a hands-on engineering role. You will design and build backend services and APIs for NOS applications, model and access data, and make sure the server side is reliable, secure, and fast. You work with the Staff Software Engineer and product engineers on the applications and with the platform squad on shared services. You will write production code, review pull requests, debug production issues, and build backends that hold up in a regulated, safety-critical setting. Responsibilities * Build backend services and APIs. Design, build, and maintain the server-side systems behind NOS modules and applications. * Model and access data. Design schemas, queries, and data access patterns that are correct and performant. * Keep the backend reliable and secure. Build for uptime, handle errors well, and follow security and access-control requirements. * Integrate with the platform. Use shared platform services, data, and integrations rather than rebuilding them. * Support the full lifecycle. Write tests, wire services into CI/CD, and support what you ship in production. * Partner with product and platform engineers. Work across the squads so backends fit the applications and the platform. ## Related Videos - [Meet Your New BFF: Backend to Frontend without the Duct Tape](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/682-meet-your-new-bff-backend-to-frontend-without-the-duct-tape) - [Do TypeScript without TypeScript](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/327-do-typescript-without-typescript) - [Developing the Backend with Stefan Lingler, CTO at Shpock](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100360-developing-the-backend-with-stefan-lingler-cto-at-shpock) - [Go with the Flow: Stop the Leaks Before Your Memory's a Waterfall!](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100073-go-with-the-flow-stop-the-leaks-before-your-memory-s-a-waterfall) - [Super scaling for the Super Bowl: How to survive 30 million users hitting your backend in 30 minutes](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100356-super-scaling-for-the-super-bowl-how-to-survive-30-million-users-hitting-your-backend-in-30-minutes) - [Nest.js - TypeScript in the backend can also be clean](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1033-nest-js-typescript-in-the-backend-can-also-be-clean) ## Related Articles - [20 Essential Tools For Backend Development](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/218-20-essential-tools-for-backend-development) - [What’s the Difference Between Frontend and Backend Development?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/240-what-s-the-difference-between-frontend-and-backend-development) - [Top-Paying Tech Jobs (with Salaries)](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/372-top-paying-tech-jobs-with-salaries) - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers) - [Backend Developer Salary in Germany [2023]](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/196-backend-developer-salary-in-germany-2023) - [The Most Popular IT Jobs on the Market](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/376-the-most-popular-it-jobs-on-the-market)
