## About the Role

* 7+ years of experience building customer-facing web applications using Ruby on Rails
 * Strong experience in React
 * Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and working with relational databases
 * Comfort owning projects from concept through production, including making architectural trade-offs
 * Track record of raising the bar for the team - through mentorship, code quality, or process improvements
 * Experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, or cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
 * Responsive design, accessibility standards, and cross-browser compatibility experience
 * Experience with observability tooling (logging, monitoring, alerting)
 * Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
 * Willingness to work US timezone hours for team collaboration, * Experience integrating LLMs or AI/ML services into production applications
 * Experience with A/B testing, personalization, or data-driven content customization
 * Background in a startup or high-growth environment
 * Familiarity with compliance, security awareness, or ed-tech domains.

## Description

* Own features end-to-end: scope the technical approach, build across frontend and backend, and ship to production
 * Design and maintain APIs, data models, and backend services that are reliable and performant
 * Build polished, accessible frontend experiences with attention to UI/UX details
 * Build and integrate AI-powered features - from personalized learningexperiences to intelligent compliance tooling - from prototype to production
 * Use AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, Copilot) to accelerate your work and help the team adopt effective AI tooling
 * Instrument analytics and use data to guide product and engineering decisions
 * Collaborate closely with product, design, and other engineers to deliver on key initiatives
 * Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, technical debt, and reliability issues
 * Mentor other engineers through code review, pairing, and architectural guidance
