You have: * A master's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline; * At least 8 years of experience in a similar role; * Experience as a Systems Engineer in the offshore, maritime, or heavy steel construction sector; * Expertise in one of the disciplines of mechanical engineering, electronics or control systems, combined with a broad interdisciplinary understanding of the other disciplines, including hydraulics; * Strong systems thinking skills and the ability to shift seamlessly between detailed work and the bigger picture; * The ability to operate across all engineering disciplines (multidisciplinary); * A strong affinity with complex mechanical systems; * The ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements and to set clear priorities. Some practical things we need you to have: * An EU passport/valid work permit for the Netherlands; * A good command of the English (and preferably Dutch) language verbally and in writing. ## Description As a Systems Engineer, you ensure that our product functions as an integrated whole, and that the mechanical structure, hydraulic actuators, electrical power supply and control systems are properly aligned. Examples of such products include a knuckle boom crane, a motion-compensated pile gripper, a cable-lay system, automated stacking cranes and rail-mounted gantry cranes., As a Systems Engineer, your focus is on integrated system design. You are responsible for: * System design and engineering. This includes independently preparing engineering deliverables, ensuring safe and cost-effective system designs for both the client and the organisation, documenting and substantiating technical decisions, and understanding and bridging the gap between different technical disciplines. * Interdisciplinary collaboration. You act as a sparring partner for other engineers throughout the various phases of engineering. You define clear system interfaces, both internally (within the product) and externally (towards other systems). You prioritise between solutions from different disciplines. * Technical validation and analysis. You validate designs against applicable standards and client requirements, and verify that the system performs as intended. * Knowledge management and quality assurance.
