As part of an ongoing platform modernisation programme, the organisation is evolving towards a PostgreSQL-led environment while continuing to support a number of Oracle databases. They're looking for a Database Administrator to join the Systems team and play a key role in both day-to-day database operations and longer-term platform improvements. This is a varied role offering a mix of BAU support, performance optimisation, upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure projects. You'll have the opportunity to influence database strategy while working with modern engineering and DevOps practices. Key Responsibilities * Administer and support PostgreSQL and Oracle databases, with a primary focus on PostgreSQL * Monitor, troubleshoot and optimise database performance * Design and maintain high availability, replication, backup and disaster recovery solutions * Perform database upgrades, patching and lifecycle management activities * Support database migration and platform modernisation initiatives * Maintain database security, access controls and compliance standards * Investigate and resolve production issues in business-critical environments * Work closely with development, infrastructure and support teams to deliver technical improvements * Contribute to automation, CI/CD and continuous improvement initiatives * Produce and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures, * Oracle to PostgreSQL migration projects * AWS and/or Azure database services * Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Terraform or Ansible * DevOps and CI/CD pipelines * Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket or similar tooling * Broader infrastructure, networking or Linux administration experience What's on Offer * Opportunity to join a business investing heavily in its technology platforms * A genuine mix of BAU support and project work * Involvement in a major database modernisation programme * Flexible remote and hybrid working * Exposure to cloud, automation and DevOps practices * Collaborative technical environment with long-term career growth opportunities Interested?
