Master's Degree preferred. LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS * Driver's License; * Maintain all certifications/licenses required at job entry. KNOWLEDGE * Managerial principles, practices, techniques and options to successfully motivate and supervise staff; * Advanced information technology principles and practices; * Budgeting and finance principles and practices; * Project management principles and practices; * Applicable state, local and federal laws relating to information technology; * Personnel related laws and policies; * Standard office equipment including the computer and programs relevant to the performance of applicable duties and responsibilities; * Applicable Federal, state and local laws, codes, ordinances, rules and regulations; * Customer service principles and practices., * Supervising and leading staff; * Managing, identifying, communicating, and carrying out the objectives of the Information Technology department. * Interpreting and applying IT principles, methods, and best practices. * Proficiently using computers and related software applications. * Interpreting and applying applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, ordinances, rules, and regulations related to IT. * Solving problems and making informed decisions. * Demonstrating effective communication and interpersonal skills for interactions with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear information exchange and direction. ## Description This is a senior management level position, recognized as a supervisory and organizational authority within a specific discipline or demonstrates broad practical knowledge in several major functions. Work involves directing, planning and coordinating across staff and projects/programs. Assists with policy development within assigned functional area or the organization. Leads initiatives related to security, architecture, and enterprise IT maturity. Typically reports to a department head and is a third- or higher-level supervisor., * Oversees and manages IT department operations, including staffing, budget management, and service delivery. * Supervises, recruits, trains, and evaluates IT personnel; provides guidance, corrects deficiencies, and enforces discipline and termination procedures as needed. * Collaborates with IT staff and other departments to plan, coordinate, and resolve issues related to projects, programs, and operations. * Provides strategic leadership to foster innovation, flexibility, and creativity within the department. * Regularly communicates and coordinates with other departments to ensure efficient, aligned interdepartmental activities. * Develops, implements, and monitors IT department policies, rules, and procedures. * Responds to public inquiries and internal requests for IT support; communicates official IT policies and department initiatives. * Engages with elected officials, citizens, and other stakeholders on IT-related matters; resolves sensitive issues and concerns. * Serves as an advisor, offering counsel on IT-related topics to leadership. * Facilitates meetings with IT staff, department heads, and relevant external stakeholders. * Prepares presentations for diverse audiences, delivering insights on IT programs, projects, and initiatives. * Manages departmental budgets, ensuring effective cost control, expenditure tracking, and efficient allocation of resources. * Participates in Town leadership and department meetings, contributing to committees and project teams. * Guides the continuous improvement of IT programs by designing, monitoring, and reviewing department initiatives. * Directs and coordinates special projects, programs, and initiatives within the IT department. * Performs additional related duties as assigned. ## Related Videos - [You’re a great coder?
