Take a primary role in between silicon engineers, firmware engineers, software developers, platform engineers, architects, and leads. Demonstrate ability to optimize BIOS interactions with OS., Hands-on debugging experience of CPU/APU/GPU related FW and SW components. Experience putting PC systems together, installing normal PC components including memory, storage, processors and other devices. Excellent coding/debugging skills in C and Python, Proficient in ACPI/ASL and Assembly Language. Deep understanding of UEFI (including EDK). Coreboot familiarity optional and nice to have. Experience with creating and promoting Firmware capsules for LVFS Well versed with Client PC (x86) system design and validation; testing tools and environments, defect tracking and source code version control (Git). General familiarity with computer architecture concepts and silicon features; Microsoft Operating Systems, excellent skills in Linux operating systems, virtualization software (KVM, Xen, et al.), Secure Boot, PSP Plus understanding and experience with different frameworks and subsystems in BIOS and Linux responsible to control power, performance, and thermal; benchmarking suites used to determine platform capabilities; managing Linux-based devices in commercial environments; working with platform firmware and services (UEFI/ACPI), Linux kernel API, and other interfaces used by Linux systems. ## Description Step up into an organization built to engage more strategically and deeply with our commercial Linux customers - specifically their architecture and engineering teams. As a member on our team, drive cross-team engineering efforts to deliver system solutions for strategic customers that enable growth in our joint business. The mission of this role is to drive excellence with Ryzen powered systems both strategically and tactically., As a Firmware engineer on our team, you configure and tune BIOS settings, help co-develop features in BIOS optimized for Linux to take advantage of client technologies on customer platforms. Analyze, configure, and propose changes to platform system firmware to allow the kernel and other services extract platform configuration and runtime information. Join a group of engineers collaborating with customers to help understand how the configuration and enablement of platform and software features fulfill end-to-end user scenarios in commercial platforms. Participate in planning the next generation CPU/APUs. Figure out how changes in the kernel upstream pipeline help meet the goals of new platforms., Gain expertise on development efforts in the BIOS subsystem focusing on its interactions with the Linux kernel and the open-source AI stack such as ROCm. Support new processor capabilities by implementing improving new features in Firmware and Linux.
