You have strong opinions on what works and why. * Proven ability to drive cultural change - you've successfully convinced skeptical engineers to adopt new tools or workflows, and you know how to meet people where they are. * Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript; comfortable writing backend services, CLI tools, and automation scripts. * Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and developer platforms (GitHub Actions, Buildkite, ArgoCD, or similar). * Systems thinker who can balance big-picture developer experience vision with the practical details of implementation. * Strong communicator - you can write a compelling internal guide just as easily as you can give a compelling demo. * Passion for real-world impact: you're energized by the idea that faster, smarter engineering translates directly to better patient care. Bonus Points For * Experience building or deploying agentic coding systems - multi-step agents that write, test, review, or deploy code autonomously. * Contributions to open-source developer tooling or AI/LLM tooling projects. * Familiarity with healthcare tech constraints - HIPAA, SOC 2, audit logging - and how to design AI tooling that respects them. * Background in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP)., Amazon Web Services (AWS), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Artificial Intelligence (AI) Agents, Automation, Cloud Computing, Code Reviews, Communication Skills, Continuous Deployment/Delivery, Continuous Improvement, Continuous Integration, Document Change Management, Documentation, E Programming Language, Engineering, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), GCP (Good Clinical Practices), Genetics, GitHub, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), Healthcare, Healthcare Software, Hospital, Legal, Machine Learning, Machine Tool, Medical Conditions, Medicine, Metrics, Onboarding, Open Source, Patient Care, Problem Solving Skills, Process Improvement, Product Demonstration, Product Lifecycle, Product Planning, Programming Tools, Python Programming/Scripting Language, Scripting (Scripting Languages), Secure Coding, Software Agents, Software Development, Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), Software Engineering, State Laws and Regulations, Test Driven Development (TDD), Test Plan/Schedule, Thought Leadership ## Description We're looking for a DevEx AI Engineer who sits at the intersection of platform engineering and AI-powered developer tooling. This isn't just a platform role - it's a mission to fundamentally change how our engineering team builds software. You will be the driving force behind integrating AI coding tools, autonomous agents, and intelligent workflows into every layer of our development lifecycle. At Qventus, we believe that AI-augmented engineering isn't the future - it's now. We're all in. Our engineers use AI coding assistants daily, and we want someone who doesn't just support these tools, but evangelizes them, evolves them, and pushes the boundaries of what's possible with agentic development. You will be our internal champion for the AI coding revolution: running workshops, building internal tooling, and proving what a team operating at 10x velocity looks like. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role that will shape how Qventus engineers work, accelerate our product roadmap, and set the standard for AI-native software development in healthcare. Key Responsibilities * Champion the adoption of AI coding tools - including Cursor, Claude Code, and emerging agentic frameworks - across the entire engineering organization. * Run internal workshops, pairing sessions, and enablement programs to up-level engineers on prompt engineering, AI-assisted TDD, and autonomous code generation. * Define and evolve AI-first development standards, integrating them into our engineering culture, onboarding, and day-to-day workflows. * Design, build, and maintain the internal developer platform that enables teams to ship high-quality, secure software with speed and confidence. * Own CI/CD pipelines, developer tooling, and self-service infrastructure that weaves AI assistance into every stage of the SDLC. * Build intelligent automation for code review, test generation, documentation, and deployment - leveraging LLMs and agentic workflows to eliminate toil. * Architect infrastructure for running AI coding agents in secure, sandboxed environments with the guardrails and observability our healthcare context demands. * Establish and track DevEx metrics - DORA, cycle time, AI adoption rates - and drive continuous improvement against them. * Act as a thought leader and internal advisor on AI coding trends, partnering across engineering, security, and product teams to keep our platform ahead of the curve. ## Related Videos - [AI Won't Fix Your Engineering Culture](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100266-ai-won-t-fix-your-engineering-culture) - [Developing the Backend with Stefan Lingler, CTO at Shpock](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100360-developing-the-backend-with-stefan-lingler-cto-at-shpock) - [Innovating Developer Tools with AI: Insights from GitHub Next](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1268-innovating-developer-tools-with-ai-insights-from-github-next) - [Why segmenting your infrastructure into tiers makes your infrastructure design better](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1960-why-segmenting-your-infrastructure-into-tiers-makes-your-infrastructure-design-better) - [Nest.js - TypeScript in the backend can also be clean](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1033-nest-js-typescript-in-the-backend-can-also-be-clean) - [Bringing AI Model Testing and Prompt Management to Your Codebase with GitHub Models](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1536-bringing-ai-model-testing-and-prompt-management-to-your-codebase-with-github-models) ## Related Articles - [Navigating the AI Shift](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/629-navigating-the-ai-shift) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [What is Agentic Programming and Why Should Developers Care?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/625-what-is-agentic-programming-and-why-should-developers-care) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline) - [MLOps And AI Driven Development](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/82-mlops-and-ai-driven-development) - [The State of WebDev AI 2025 Results: What Can We Learn?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/581-the-state-of-webdev-ai-2025-results-what-can-we-learn)
