You will be a proven architectural leader capable of designing and overseeing complex, enterprise-scale solutions, with a strong technical breadth and the ability to influence senior stakeholders. Essential: · Central Government Domain Expertise: Proven experience working extensively with or within central government departments, understanding their unique operating models, policy drivers, and digital transformation challenges. · Architectural Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead the design and delivery of complex, enterprise-scale technology solutions, including leading teams of more junior solution architects. · Technical Breadth & Depth: Strong understanding across a broad range of technologies, including: o Cloud-based Delivery: Extensive experience designing and implementing solutions on major cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS services. o Open Source Technologies: Proven experience leveraging and integrating open-source software and platforms into enterprise architectures. o Application Development: Hands-on experience or deep understanding of modern application development using languages and frameworks such as Node.js, Python and Java, particularly in cloud-native and microservices architectures. · Agile and Iterative Approach: Proven track record of designing solutions iteratively and working with Agile teams to develop transitional architecture. · Interactions and Interfaces: Experience designing integrations between services (e.g., APIs) and interfacing securely with third parties. · Data Management: Hands-on experience with building and managing data models and lifecycles. · AI Tooling in Solutions: Experience considering and integrating AI tooling and capabilities into solution designs where appropriate, leveraging emerging technologies and approaches. · Government Standards: In-depth knowledge and practical application of government digital service standards (e.g., GDS) and security guidelines (e.g., NCSC Cloud Security Principles). · Communication & Influence: Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, influence senior stakeholders, and build strong client relationships. Desirable · Relevant industry certifications (e.g., TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert). · Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks and methodologies. · Knowledge of specific public sector domains (e.g., health, defence, justice). · Familiarity with emerging technologies beyond AI, such as blockchain or quantum computing, and their potential application in government. · Experience in a client-facing consulting role within a professional services environment. ## Description As a Solution Architect, you will lead the strategic definition and articulation of architectural vision for significant central government programmes. You will translate complex business requirements and policy objectives into actionable, enterprise-level architectural designs, ensuring solutions are robust, scalable, secure, and align with government digital standards and strategic goals., · Strategic Architectural Leadership: Lead the definition and articulation of architectural vision and strategy for major central government programmes and projects. Translate high-level business requirements and policy objectives into detailed, actionable architectural designs and roadmaps, ensuring alignment with client strategic goals, government digital standards (e.g., GDS Service Standard), and security policies (e.g., NCSC guidelines). · Solution Design and Development Oversight: Design end-to-end enterprise-level solutions encompassing applications, data, infrastructure, security, and integration layers. Evaluate and recommend appropriate technologies, platforms, and vendors, considering cost-effectiveness, scalability, security, and maintainability within a public sector context. Oversee the technical design and development lifecycle, providing architectural guidance and assurance to delivery teams, ensuring adherence to design principles and standards, including the effective use of open-source components and cloud-native development practices. · Stakeholder Engagement and Advisory: Facilitate workshops and discussions with diverse stakeholder groups (business, technical, security, policy) to elicit requirements and build consensus around architectural decisions. Manage expectations and communicate architectural trade-offs effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, building relationships with senior stakeholders across multiple business or technical areas. · Architectural Governance and Assurance: Establish and implement architectural governance processes, standards, and best practices across projects and programmes.
