## About the Role

* Senior System Engineer mindset: able to work autonomously on high-complexity business requirements in critical business areas, with strong ownership of system stability and delivery outcomes.\n
 * Deep experience in SCADA, automation or industrial control landscapes, including productive operation, migration, troubleshooting and integration with asset-side control systems.\n
 * Strong ability to analyse business processes, data flows and system dependencies and convert them into scalable, secure and maintainable system designs.\n
 * Hands-on knowledge of industrial communication and integration patterns, ideally including IEC 60870-5-104, ICCP, Modbus, RTU connectivity, TSO interfaces and asset communication protocols.\n
 * Experience with system design for complex, highly available services, including redundancy, monitoring, logging, incident/problem management and operational readiness for 24/7 support.\n
 * Practical knowledge of software development using programming languages such as C#/.NET, Angular and scripting languages such as KornShell and PowerShell, with the ability to create maintainable automation, integration components and operational tools.\n
 * Experience with modern AI-assisted development workflows to accelerate requirements refinement, code generation, refactoring, debugging, test creation and technical documentation, while retaining human ownership of architecture, security, code review and production quality.\n
 * Good working knowledge of cloud and infrastructure engineering, preferably AWS, container platforms, Terraform or CloudFormation, Azure DevOps and CI/CD practices.\n
 * Ability to collaborate with internal and external suppliers, challenge solution designs constructively, document decisions and communicate complex topics clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.\n
 * Fluent English and German skills, with the confidence to facilitate workshops, requirements reviews, show-and-tells and cross-functional alignment sessions.\n, * Experience with modern observability and monitoring tooling, for example ELK, Zabbix, CloudWatch or comparable platforms.\n

## Description

* Knowledge of cybersecurity and compliance requirements for critical infrastructure and SCADA environments, including ISMS/ISO 27001-aligned practices.\n, Be part of a passionate IT team interfacing the changing energy production business with the fast-paced trading business. You will work on KAIROS, a strategic SCADA transformation that combines operational excellence, secure system engineering and commercial optimisation of RWE's asset portfolio.

You will have the opportunity to shape the future SCADA platform, collaborate closely with senior colleagues and vendors, and grow within the RWEST Senior System Engineer pathway.
