Licenses and Certifications * Valid Illinois driver's license or equivalent * Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred. ## Description As a Design Engineer, you'll contribute directly to the planning and delivery of high-quality public infrastructures that serves the City's residents and businesses. Working under the direction of the Assistant Director of Engineering, you'll design streets, utilities, parks, and other public works projects by applying sound engineering principles, City standards, and regulatory requirements, including ADA, IDOT, and Complete Streets policies. Your work will support capital improvement projects from concept through construction by preparing accurate plans, specifications, permits, and cost estimates, coordinating with internal staff, consultants, and contractors, and ensuring designs are safe, compliant, and constructible.
