## About the Role

This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires lifting, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of machines, and determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions., * 3-5 years of experience in network hardware engineering and deployment

 * Proficiency in configuring enterprise-grade routers, switches, and firewalls (Cisco, Juniper, Fortinet)
 * Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, JNCIS, Aruba Certified Switching Professional)
 * Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
 * Expertise in system implementation and testing processes.
 * Highly organized with the ability to manage concurrent deadlines and multiple priorities.

LICENSE, CERTIFICATIONS, and OTHER REQUIREMENTS

 * Must pass SLED and AFIS background check.
 * All regular full-time and part-time employees of Spartanburg County are required by state law to participate in the South Carolina Retirement System.
 * Possession of a valid State driver''s license.

## Description

The Network Engineer specializes in the design, implementation, and administration of the network and its security for enterprise environments., * Plan and deploy network hardware including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless systems

 * Ensure redundancy, security, and scalability in physical network designs
 * Troubleshoot complex hardware issues and optimize performance of network devices
 * Collaborate with vendors for hardware procurement and maintenance contracts
 * Ensure and monitor SLED compliance of enterprise-level environments
 * Lead installations, customizations, and maintenance on the enterprise-wide systems.
 * Design system security structures.
 * Lead changes to controlled production environments.
 * Provide upper-level application support to users and communicate periodically with vendors.
 * Assist with troubleshooting operational issues and work to implement appropriate solutions.
 * Document software configurations and operational procedures.
 * Mentor junior engineers and lead network hardware projects
