You will be responsible for equipment installation, maintenance, and testing across multiple products during various phases of firmware development and customer qualification. We are seeking an Engineering Specialist III to join our Shakopee, MN software test engineering team. This position reports to the Sr. Engineering Manager and is part of the Software and Firmware Engineering organization, supporting challenging customer qualification projects. About the role - you will: * Use Linux and Windows operating systems in the operation of enterprise server systems for manually executed and automated testing. * Install Linux or Windows operating systems, reconfigure test system hardware and software, download upgrades, install drivers, update server BIOS and system firmware, configure networks, install test software, and work with RAID storage configurations. * Assist with preparation of drives for testing, through drive kitting, firmware downloads, format configurations, security activation, and labelling. * Support will be for both SAS (Serial Attached SCSI) as well as SATA drives. * Support engineers during disc drive failure analysis by gathering system and drive logs or setting up analysis tools. Follow procedures and work instructions to monitor testing in progress across 200 or more test servers. * Actively work with several engineers of various roles within the ECJQ and Firmware departments. * Assist other teams with lab equipment and drive needs. * Support general lab operations by managing a test drive inventory of 5,000 or more-disc drives and promoting a clean, efficient, and safe workspace in the test lab. * Troubleshoot and resolve failures detected internally or in the customer systems. * Apply your knowledge of embedded software and your experience of best practice software development methods. * Work eight-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday. The preferred schedule is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., but the schedule is negotiable.
