Our mission is to cultivate connected, proud, and meaningful Jewish living that inspires change in our world. Located on Shalom Park in Charlotte, North Carolina, we are the region's largest Jewish congregation. Our community is guided by deep roots, sacred responsibility, and daring hope. We believe that relationships are at the heart of congregational life-and that every person should feel known, welcomed, and connected. THE OPPORTUNITY Temple Beth El seeks a warm, organized, and relational professional to serve as our Engagement and Programming Coordinator. Working closely with the Director of Congregational Life, this person will help turn programs into pathways for connection, volunteers into valued partners, and participation into a deeper sense of belonging. The coordinator will support congregational programs, strengthen volunteer systems, assist members in finding meaningful ways to become involved, and help ensure that community experiences are thoughtfully planned and executed. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working with both people and details: welcoming members, supporting volunteers, organizing logistics, communicating clearly, and helping a mission-driven organization bring meaningful experiences to life. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Build relationships with members and help them find programs, groups, volunteer roles, and other opportunities that match their interests. * Support congregational events, worship experiences, holidays, and community initiatives from planning through follow-up. * Recruit, schedule, prepare, communicate with, and appreciate volunteers. * Support small groups, cohorts, committees, and other community groups by coordinating communication, materials, meetings, and next steps. * Help welcome new members and families and connect them with people and experiences across the congregation. * Collaborate with staff and lay leaders to ensure that program needs, responsibilities, and timelines are clear. * Partner with the Communications team to promote programs and share stories of participation and impact. * Use engagement and constituent-management systems to track participation, support follow-up, and inform decision-making. * Represent Temple Beth El in selected Shalom Park and community initiatives. * Participate actively in staff meetings, collaborative planning, and professional development. WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE The successful coordinator will help create a congregation where: * Members feel welcomed, recognized, and able to find their place. * Volunteers understand their roles, feel appreciated, and know how their service advances TBE's mission. * Programs are organized, communicated effectively, and designed to strengthen relationships. * Staff and lay leaders have reliable systems for coordinating programs and following up with participants. * Participation becomes a pathway to deeper connection, belonging, and Jewish life.
