The objectives of supervision are to: * Evaluate and promote the overall safety and soundness of supervised institutions * Ensure supervised institutions' compliance with relevant laws and regulations * Facilitate the stability of the financial system of the United States * Support the growth and stability of the U.S. economy Supervision is carried out through a combination of methods, including on-site and off-site examinations involving staff dedicated to the supervision of an individual firm and other professionals focused on analytical, policy and risk matters. Supervision is coordinated with other US agencies. The Supervision Group at FRBNY is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of Globally Systemically Important Banks, Large and Foreign Banking Organizations, Regional and Community Banking Organizations and Financial Market Utilities that are based in the Second District. The supervisory teams execute examinations, monitoring, and analysis in coordination with staffs of the Board of Governors, other Reserve Banks, and other domestic and international agencies. Supervision staff develop a deep understanding of the safety and soundness of the firms and the broader banking industry; recommend supervisory plans and ratings; and execute examinations, monitoring events and financial analysis. Supervisors focus their work on risks including Capital, Governance and Controls, Liquidity, Resolution and Recovery; and the overall financial and operational resiliency of the firms' and the broader financial system.
