This role provides centralized visibility into application performance across multiple platforms by leveraging enterprise performance testing and observability tools. The Senior Software Engineer - Performance Engineering partners closely with application and SRE teams to identify performance risks and ensure they are clearly understood and addressed by the appropriate owners. This position plays a critical role in protecting client experience by proactively detecting performance degradation across pre-production and production environments. What you have To ensure that we have fulfilled our promise of "challenging the status quo," this role has specific qualifications that successful candidates should have. Performance Testing & Validation - Design and execute load, stress, and scalability testing across the CMS ecosystem (Classic CMS, Drupal, Next.js, and Content APIs) to identify performance risks prior to release. Production Performance Monitoring & Observability - Monitor and analyze real-user and system performance using enterprise observability tools (e.g., Splunk, Akamai mPulse, ThousandEyes, Vercel Insights) to detect degradation and understand client impact. Frontend Performance Monitoring - Track and report on frontend performance metrics, including Core Web Vitals and site responsiveness, to ensure visibility into client experience across web applications. CDN & Edge Performance Monitoring - Analyze and monitor performance at the CDN and edge layer (e.g., Akamai) to identify latency, caching, and delivery issues impacting end-user experience. Performance Risk Identification & Reporting - Identify, document, and communicate performance risks, trends, and degradation across environments, ensuring clear visibility to application and platform teams responsible for remediation. Cross-Team Collaboration & Enablement - Partner with application and SRE teams to provide performance insights and support root cause analysis, while maintaining clear ownership boundaries where remediation resides with the appropriate teams. ## Related Videos - [What the Heck is Edge Computing Anyway?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/593-what-the-heck-is-edge-computing-anyway) - [Frontend Performance Testing in practice](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/8-frontend-performance-testing-in-practice) - [Decoupling 101 - Why decouple, when not to, progressive decoupling and success stories in decoupling](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/266-decoupling-101-why-decouple-when-not-to-progressive-decoupling-and-success-stories-in-decoupling) - [Our journey with Spring Boot in a microservice architecture](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/511-our-journey-with-spring-boot-in-a-microservice-architecture) - [The Pragmatic Architect: Balancing Necessity vs. Sufficiency in React Systems](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2101-the-pragmatic-architect-balancing-necessity-vs-sufficiency-in-react-systems) - [Measure and improve frontend performance by using test automation](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/719-measure-and-improve-frontend-performance-by-using-test-automation) ## Related Articles - [Benefits of Using JMeter For Performance Testing](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/96-benefits-of-using-jmeter-for-performance-testing) - [The 8 Best Code Testing Tools](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/402-the-8-best-code-testing-tools) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [The Most Popular IT Jobs on the Market](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/376-the-most-popular-it-jobs-on-the-market) - [Software Developer Salary in Austria [2023]](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/213-software-developer-salary-in-austria-2023) - [Frontend Developer Salary in Germany [2023]](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/195-frontend-developer-salary-in-germany-2023)
