This is not a full robotics fabrication lab. The immediate goal is to create a practical, simulation-first learning environment that can support Zero Robotics preparation, AI-assisted coding, algorithmic problem solving, autonomous systems thinking, and student teamwork. The lab will be located inside STDCx's existing facility. STDCx is expected to provide the physical space, classroom infrastructure, computers, servers, network access, projection/display equipment, and local technical logistics. I Legend AI will support the in-person student training and local implementation. We are looking for a contractor who can remotely architect and supervise a lean technical setup that the local team can implement. Role Overview We are seeking a hands-on AI Robotics Showcase Lab Setup Lead to design, guide, and supervise the remote setup of a lightweight robotics simulation and AI-assisted learning environment. The ideal candidate has practical experience setting up robotics education environments, simulation-based robotics training, Python coding workflows, GitHub collaboration, and AI-assisted development tools. Experience with Zero Robotics is strongly preferred. The role is not to build custom robotics hardware from scratch. The role is to create a practical, usable system that students and local mentors can use before the program begins in August. Primary Goals The contractor will help build a Phase 1 system that supports: * Zero Robotics-style simulation and problem solving * Python-based coding and algorithm development * Autonomous decision-making concepts * AI-assisted coding, debugging, and student support * GitHub-based collaboration * Simple demo or showcase materials for visitors and stakeholders * Future scalability toward FIRST Robotics, without overbuilding hardware now Key Responsibilities The contractor will: * Review the current Zero Robotics structure and recommend a practical preparation environment * Recommend and configure a simulation-based learning workflow * Help establish a Python development environment for students * Create or recommend sample Zero Robotics-style challenge modules * Set up a GitHub-based collaboration process for student teams * Recommend appropriate AI-assisted coding tools and responsible use practices * Create a simple showcase demo that can be shown to STDCx, Selangor stakeholders, I Legend AI, and potential partners * Recommend simple ready-made hardware only if it adds educational or demonstration value * Guide the I Legend AI team remotely through setup and implementation * Provide clear documentation so the local team can maintain and repeat the setup * Advise how this Phase 1 environment could later scale toward FIRST Robotics Phase 1 Scope The Phase 1 setup should focus on: * Zero Robotics preparation * Simulation-based robotics learning * Python / coding logic * Algorithmic thinking * Autonomous systems concepts * AI-assisted learning workflow * Student team collaboration * Simple visual demonstration Phase 1 should avoid: * Custom hardware design * Full FIRST Robotics buildout * Large mechanical fabrication * CNC machining * Laser cutting * 3D printing lab setup * Large robotics field construction * Expensive or unnecessary equipment purchases Preferred Experience Strong candidates may have experience with: * Zero Robotics * NASA Astrobee / simulation-based robotics environments * Robotics education * Python * Robotics simulation * ROS2, Gazebo, Webots, Isaac Sim, or similar tools * GitHub classroom or student collaboration workflows * AI-assisted coding tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Cursor, or similar * FIRST Robotics or other student robotics competitions * Teaching or mentoring high school students * Remote technical setup and documentation * Supporting local teams in implementing technical systems Required Deliverables The contractor should provide: * A lean Phase 1 setup plan * Recommended software stack * Minimum equipment list, if any hardware is needed * Student setup and workflow guide * Mentor / local team setup guide * GitHub or collaboration structure * At least one working simulation or showcase demo * Remote onboarding session for the I Legend AI team * Short recommendation for possible Phase 2 expansion toward FIRST Robotics ## Related Videos - [How I built my own intelligent Robot Arm from Scratch](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100097-how-i-built-my-own-intelligent-robot-arm-from-scratch) - [Innovating Developer Tools with AI: Insights from GitHub Next](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1268-innovating-developer-tools-with-ai-insights-from-github-next) - [ Evaluating AI models for code comprehension](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1462-evaluating-ai-models-for-code-comprehension) - [Building your way to a serverless powered IOT Buzzwire game](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/590-building-your-way-to-a-serverless-powered-iot-buzzwire-game) - [Bringing AI Model Testing and Prompt Management to Your Codebase with GitHub Models](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1536-bringing-ai-model-testing-and-prompt-management-to-your-codebase-with-github-models) - [Speak, Code, Deploy: Transforming Developer Experience with Voice Commands](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1159-speak-code-deploy-transforming-developer-experience-with-voice-commands) ## Related Articles - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [What is Agentic Programming and Why Should Developers Care?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/625-what-is-agentic-programming-and-why-should-developers-care) - [Got AI ideas but no money?
