This is an opportunity to get involved in exciting technical developments such as implementation of MODFLOW 6 and advanced recharge modelling, to support groundwater regulation in Southeast England in a unique, data-rich environment., We are looking for a groundwater modeler, with a minimum of five years' experience, who can build and update conceptual and numerical regional groundwater models using fortran/python coding, ARCGIS Pro, Excel and other quantitative tools, with a high standard of quality control. You will also carry out technical oversight of consultants in the same type of work. In this role you will support the Environment Agency's groundwater modelling programme in the Southeast of England and be an active member of the wider groundwater modelling community. The EA is happy to discuss and support flexible working patterns including part-time working, with any reasonable requests being discussed at the interview. Your base location will need to be at an office/depot in our South East area. This could be anywhere across Hertfordshire and North London, Kent and South London, Solent and South Downs as well as Thames offices of Farnham/Reading/Wallingford. The team currently works mostly remotely and meets once a month in London; however this working pattern is not contractual or guaranteed. You are also expected to join in-person groundwater and contaminated land team meetings usually taking place in Farnham, Reading or Wallingford. The Team You'll join our Southeast Groundwater Modelling Unit which sits within the Environment Agency Thames Area Groundwater and Contaminated Land team. The unit provides technical support to the Environment Agency areas of Thames, Hertfordshire and North London, Kent, South London and East Sussex and Solent and South Downs.
