People Skills: * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to see the big-picture perspective. * Strong communication skills with the ability to, for a wide variety of audiences, adapt the explanation of complex technical concepts. * Strong teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with peers, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders. * Evidence of ability to master new technical areas. What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications): * Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline. * Advanced knowledge of the internals of the data-link layer components (for example, switch internals and communication software stack). * Demonstrated experience designing and implementing Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) solution (for example, time synchronization and traffic prioritization/shaping). * Knowledge and end-to-end awareness of the hardware and software components (PHYs, switches, hardware interfaces, connectors, cables, software stack, protocols) that make up a network in the automotive domain. Advanced knowledge of internals of Ethernet switch behavior. ## Description The Mechatronics Infrastructure organization is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer who will work on development and validation of the in-vehicle Ethernet network. The role will focus in particular on systems engineering areas that are in the midst of transformation, with key examples being design automation tools and machine-readable network configuration artifacts, expanding our network verification bench. The role will also include the advancement of our networking solutions and protocols required for our next-generation architectures, as well as close collaboration with stakeholders across the hardware and software organizations. What You'll Do (Responsibilities): * Design and develop in-vehicle Ethernet systems, including network architecture, topology, and communication protocols across all networking layers of the OSI model. * Develop and maintain toolchain for automated design of network configurations. As communications infrastructure functionality is enhanced, develop and implement algorithms to continue enabling automated generation of network configuration artifacts. * Develop and expand our network verification bench, for early validation and tracking of network performance. * Perform extensive functional and temporal evaluation of key networking protocols and solutions like gPTP, redundant gPTP, traffic shaping, and redundant communication. * Develop behavioral technical specifications (BTS) for existing and new in-vehicle communications functionality. * Evaluate new hardware and software solutions to support technology insertion into next-generation architectures. Examples include, but are not limited to, Differentiated Services in 10BASE-T1S networks, networking IP in MCSoCs, and new RCP (Open Alliance TC18) solutions., This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the selected candidate is expected to report to a specific location at least 3 times a week {or other frequency dictated by their manager}.This job may be eligible for relocation benefits.
