You help evolve the system's data model: writing schema migrations, reviewing schema changes, and keeping PostgreSQL performance in check. Your profile: You have solid production experience with Java and Spring Boot dependency injection, security, REST APIs, async processing, and testing. You understand Enterprise Integration Patterns and are comfortable developing performant ETL processes (or have already used it); you think in terms of message pipelines, not just request/response. You have experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred): schema design, JPA/Hibernate, migrations, and query performance. Ideally, you have experience with healthcare interoperability standards: HL7 FHIR R4, openEHR, or both. If not, you are eager to learn standards. You care about correctness above all, this is clinical data. You write tests as a matter of professional pride, not because a process requires it. Ideally, you have worked with container-based deployments (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm) and understand what happens between git push and a running pod. You communicate clearly in English; German is a plus but not required. You are curious, self-directed, and energized by hard problems, you don't wait to be told what's broken. ## Description Compositions using the openFHIR mapping engine and persists them in EHRbase. You design and implement new additional FHIR resource types (Observation, Procedure, Encounter, Medication, etc.) and its respective ETL. You contribute to the HIVEPRO Portal backend (Spring Boot REST API), implementing new endpoints for cohort management, query handling, and researcher project workflows. You write test automation (JUnit 5, Mockito, etc.) and contribute to improving quality and the CI/CD test suite (GitHub Actions). You participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and help maintain clean abstractions across a multi-module Java codebase. You work with the DevOps team to containerize and deploy your services (Docker, Helm, Kubernetes) and ensure your services are observable: structured logging, metrics endpoints, and appropriate health probes. You engage with healthcare data standards (FHIR, openEHR) and collaborate with clinical informatics specialists to ensure correct semantic ## Related Videos - [Next Level Enterprise Architecture: Modular, Flexible, Scalable, Multichannel and AI-Ready?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1017-next-level-enterprise-architecture-modular-flexible-scalable-multichannel-and-ai-ready) - [Docker Compose: Rediscovered](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1978-docker-compose-rediscovered) - [How Unit Testing Saved My Career](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1642-how-unit-testing-saved-my-career) - [How a Small Team Shrank a Microsoft Monorepo by 94%](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1236-how-a-small-team-shrank-a-microsoft-monorepo-by-94) - [Docker build without Docker](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100114-docker-build-without-docker) - [From boy scouting to redrawing the landscape](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1140-from-boy-scouting-to-redrawing-the-landscape) ## Related Articles - [How We Built a Worry-Free System That Runs for 10+ Years – And What We’d Do Again](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/751-how-we-built-a-worry-free-system-that-runs-for-10-years-and-what-we-d-do-again) - [Backend Developer Salary in Germany [2023]](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/196-backend-developer-salary-in-germany-2023) - [The Most Popular IT Jobs on the Market](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/376-the-most-popular-it-jobs-on-the-market) - [Top-Paying Tech Jobs (with Salaries)](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/372-top-paying-tech-jobs-with-salaries) - [The Biggest German Tech Companies](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/424-the-biggest-german-tech-companies) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline)
