This role will work as part of a software development team and be responsible for designing, developing, and managing Java-based applications. Our ideal candidate is a problem-solver with a deep understanding of the Java programming language and is familiar with the software development life cycle (SDLC). A top candidate should be very client focused. To be a strong team player, you must be proactive in identifying issues and risks, and work with the client and the team to be a trusted advisor. Another challenge is maintaining an excellent level of current operational support while planning and integrating new enhancements and technologies. Able to work independently with minimal supervision. Proven experience as a Java Developer. Experience with Java frameworks (SpringBoot, Hibernate, Grails) and understanding of UI frameworks such as React. Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts. Experience with database architecture and design (SQL). Familiarity with Java testing tools. Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects concurrently. Excellent problem-solving abilities. Work Location: Work is primarily remote with a job site in Leesburg VA; however customer meetings and badging process will be onsite in Frederick MD. Ideal candidates will reside in the Washington DC metro area. Responsibilities: Design and implement Java-based applications. Analyze and utilize user requirements to inform your solution approach. Define application objectives and functionality. Align application design with business goals. Develop and unit test software. Integrate applications with third-party web services. Support the development team with project needs as necessary. Provide code documentation and maintain the functionality of existing applications. Design and implement scalable and high-performing solutions. Work closely with other developers and project managers to ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget. Test, debug, and troubleshoot software issues. Conduct software analysis. Create user information solutions by developing, implementing, and maintaining Java based components and interfaces. Qualifications: Background in government grants management of IT and/or large-scale federal projects preferred. Demonstrated ability to manage integration and coordination across multiple platforms/systems. Familiarity with GitHub, Jira, Confluence, and other Agile & Open-Source project tools.
