## About the Role

* Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience)
 * 5-7 years of professional software development experience
 * 5+ years Java development experience in microservices architecture on enterprise production solution
 * 3+ years of experience with Spring Framework and/or Spring Boot
 * 5+ years of experience developing REST APIs and web services
 * Experience with Oracle or other relational databases
 * Experience using Git-based source control
 * Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
 * Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills

Preferred

 * Experience with WebLogic application server administration or deployment
 * Experience with Struts, JSP, EJB, JMS, or other enterprise Java technologies
 * Experience with Docker and containerized applications
 * Experience supporting federal government or VA programs
 * Experience with Jira and Confluence
 * Experience with WebLogic application server administration or deployment

## Description

We are seeking a Java Mid-Level Developer to support the sustainment, enhancement, and modernization of mission-critical applications supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The successful candidate will contribute across both legacy enterprise platforms and modern application architectures, helping to bridge existing systems with future-state modernization initiatives.

The primary focus of this role is enterprise Java application development utilizing legacy technologies while contributing to modernization efforts leveraging Spring Boot, microservices, and API-driven architectures., * Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications

 * Analyze and resolve complex software defects and production issues
 * Support enhancements and sustainment activities for applications utilizing Java, Spring Framework, Struts, JSP, EJB, JMS, WebLogic, Hibernate, Oracle, and related technologies
 * Design and implement REST and SOAP-based services and integrations
 * Develop and maintain modern backend services utilizing Java 17+, Spring Boot, microservices, JPA/Hibernate, and REST APIs
 * Collaborate with architects and senior developers on modernization initiatives
 * Develop and optimize SQL queries and database integrations
 * Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers
 * Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD processes, and application deployments
 * Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional Agile teams to deliver high-quality software solutions
 * Ability to work within a fast-paced environment
