We are currently looking for individuals with a proven track record of composites design, solid customer skills, and a passion for hands on innovation and problem solving., * Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Aerospace or Material Science or Technology from an accredited institution * Minimum of 3 years of, product design, development, and/or production design problem resolution experience. * Must be authorized to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now or in the future. * This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. * ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Preferred Qualifications: * Master's degree in Mechanical Material Science or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution. * Design for Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt Skills Criteria: * Technical leadership skills working with a cross-functional team. * Ability to work mostly autonomously but with some oversite from a technical leader or engineering manager. * Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration with internal and external customers. * Possess sound problem resolution, judgment, and decision-making skills. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills; must be able to function in a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary engineering environment including frequent direct interaction with production personnel. * Technical knowledge * Formal training or experience in the design and analysis of composite parts including classical laminated plate theory. mechanics of materials. and Finite Element analysis * Proficiency with SolidWorks 3D CAD * Strong understanding of drawing standards and application of GD&T * Demonstrated track record of successfully applying several of the following engineering principles: * Aerospace new product introduction methods, regulatory standards. regulations. and certifications * DFSS or Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools * Failure investigations of technical products or systems * Oversite and comprehension of stress analysis (static. dynamic, fatigue, vibration, acceleration, etc.) * Steady state performance modeling * Thermodynamics, Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Aerospace Engineering, Aerospace and Defense, Analysis Skills, Business Development, CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing), Calendar Management, Coaching, Communication Skills, Compensation and Benefits, Competitive Analysis/Strategy, Composite Materials, Conferences, Corporate Funding, Corrective Action, Cost Allocation, Cost Estimates, Cross-Functional, Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Engineering Management, Establish Priorities, Finite Element Analysis, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Identify Issues, Interpersonal Skills, Leadership, Manufacturing, Manufacturing Design, Manufacturing/Industrial Processes, Material Science, Mechanical Engineering, Military, Multicultural, Performance Modeling, Presentation/Verbal Skills, Pressure Vessels, Problem Solving Skills, Process Development, Process Improvement, Product Costing, Product Design, Product/Service Launch, Project/Program Management, Quality Management, Regulations, Risk Analysis, Risk Management, Six Sigma Black Belt, SolidWorks, Technical Leadership, Technical/Engineering Design, Testing, Thermodynamics, Trade Shows, United States Citizen, Vendor/Supplier Relations, Writing Skills ## Description * Visit and work with customers and our internal Business Development team to generate conceptual designs, definitize requirements, and develop cost estimates for new hardware. * Design, analyze and test composite pressure vessels and structures developing conceptual designs into mature product solutions. * Attend conferences and trade shows to advance technical skills and market intelligence. * Function as program manager to execute programs to allocated cost and schedule requirements while meeting customer needs. * Interface with suppliers and in house production teams throughout life of products. * Support the site as needed including developing new manufacturing processes, dispositioning nonconformances, troubleshooting product issues, responding to corrective actions, and incorporating any producibility lessons learned through drawing revisions. * Manage technical risk through exhaustive identification, prioritization of risk mitigation activities, and data driven design changes where appropriate. * Work to Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) principles including careful management of Critical to Quality requirements through the design lifecycle, rigorous knowledge building of the design space, understanding of the effects of manufacturing variation, and design for manufacturing and assembly to meet product recurring cost targets. * Coach junior engineers within the incumbents specified domain. ## Related Videos -
