The ideal candidate will work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing, and be capable of taking projects from initial concept through full implementation-even when the subject matter is unfamiliar. The candidate will also demonstrate a strong ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and develop effective solutions. In summary, the ideal candidate will be highly versatile and adaptable., * Bachelor's degree required. Three years of experience working in higher education preferred but not required. Master's degree in a research-based discipline (social sciences, education, computer or data sciences, statistics, etc.) a plus. * Experience with statistical software and spreadsheets. Familiarity with database query language, data retrieval tools, and learning management systems. Ability to learn new software. Experience with Jenzabar a plus. * Understanding of statistical techniques. Ability to statistically synthesize and analyze data from multiple sources. Understanding of research design and data visualization techniques. * Commitment to professional development and continued learning to maintain up-to-date knowledge of institutional research methods and issues. * Ability to communicate complex information effectively in writing and verbally with diverse audiences. * Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and administrators. Attention to accuracy and detail. ## Description Hampden-Sydney College has an immediate opening for a Data Analyst. Reporting to the Assistant Provost & Director of Institutional Effectiveness, the Data Analyst will work closely with faculty and staff to develop, implement, and disseminate analyses on a range of College information including student enrollment and demographics, retention, and graduation, to support data needs of the College's academic and administrative units., * Support Office of Institutional Effectiveness (OIE) processes, including data analysis for federal and state reporting, academic and administrative assessment, accreditation, and external surveys/rankings. * Respond to routine and ad-hoc data requests from internal and external stakeholders. * Assist with dashboard development, key indicator reporting, production of the annual Factbook, and administration of institutional surveys. * Conduct quantitative analyses on topics including enrollment, retention, graduation, and student demographics. Provide data support to College administrators, faculty, staff, and other members of the college community as needed.
