You'll help design and build the backend services that power gameplay systems, player progression, live operations, and the online experiences players rely on every day. Working closely with gameplay engineers, designers, QA, and production, you'll solve challenging distributed systems problems while building reliable, scalable technology that enables great gameplay experiences. Our team is fully remote and collaborates primarily during U.S. Eastern Time business hours. Candidates should be available during those hours. What You'll Do * Design, develop, and maintain backend services and systems supporting a large-scale live-service multiplayer game. * Collaborate with gameplay engineers, designers, QA, and production to deliver new gameplay features from concept through release. * Design scalable, reliable, and secure distributed systems while optimizing backend performance, scalability, latency, and operational reliability. * Monitor production services, investigate issues, and improve deployment pipelines, development workflows, testing, and operational tooling. * Design systems that improve game integrity by defending against exploits, cheating, automation, and abuse. * Participate in technical design, code reviews, and architectural decisions across the server platform. * Leverage modern backend technologies and AI-assisted development tools to continuously improve engineering productivity and software quality. ## Related Videos - [Building the platform for providing ML predictions based on real-time player activity](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/944-building-the-platform-for-providing-ml-predictions-based-on-real-time-player-activity) - [Reducing LLM Calls with Vector Search Patterns - Raphael De Lio (Redis)](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1714-reducing-llm-calls-with-vector-search-patterns-raphael-de-lio-redis) - [MySQL Protocol Features You Should Be Aware Of](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100267-mysql-protocol-features-you-should-be-aware-of) - [Docker network without Docker](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1418-docker-network-without-docker) - [Accelerating Authentication Architecture: Taking Passwordless to the Next Level](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/733-accelerating-authentication-architecture-taking-passwordless-to-the-next-level) - [Coding for Good: Achieving social change with an app](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1645-coding-for-good-achieving-social-change-with-an-app) ## Related Articles - [How We Built a Worry-Free System That Runs for 10+ Years – And What We’d Do Again](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/751-how-we-built-a-worry-free-system-that-runs-for-10-years-and-what-we-d-do-again) - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [Find a Developer Job: 12 Best Job Sites For Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/165-find-a-developer-job-12-best-job-sites-for-developers) - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers) - [7 Most Popular Web Developer Jobs in Europe](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/163-7-most-popular-web-developer-jobs-in-europe) - [The Best Job Search Websites of 2025](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/368-the-best-job-search-websites-of-2025)
