Beyond technical skill, we are seeking individuals who combine solid engineering discipline with an eye for the bigger picture, and who are comfortable navigating the ambiguity inherent in production data systems. What's expected of you: o 3+ years of experience in a data engineering or comparable infrastructure/pipeline-focused role. o A bachelor's or master's degree in Data Science, AI Computer Science, or related technical focus. o Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, with hands-on experience in distributed data processing or equivalent. o Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS or GCP o Experience with at least one modern data platform or warehouse, such as Databricks or Snowflake. o A solid understanding of data modeling principles, data validation and testing practices. o Fluency in both English and Dutch, enabling effective partnership with a diverse range of local and international clients. o Current eligibility to work in the Netherlands. ## Description At Xomnia, We believe that great data products are only as good as the plumbing underneath them. As a Medior Data Engineer, you will build and run the pipelines, models, and cloud infrastructure that make data trustworthy, timely, and available for organizations like KLM, Enexis, and Rabobank; the raw material every dashboard, model, and analytics product depends on. Where a Data Analytics Engineer turns governed data into insight, you make sure that data is worth trusting in the first place: engineering ingestion from source systems, modeling raw data into clean layers, catching bad data before it reaches anyone downstream, and provisioning the cloud infrastructure that keeps it all running reliably at scale., The trajectory for a Medior Data Engineer at Xomnia is one of deliberate growth. While initially focused on designing ingestion pipelines, layered data models, and quality checks, you will gradually take on greater ownership. This progression is supported by mentorship from senior engineers and dedicated internal time to experiment with new tools and techniques. Concretely, that means: o Designing and maintaining robust data pipelines covering ingestion, transformation, and modeling, using tools such as Airflow, dbt, and PySpark. o Engineering ingestion from diverse sources into cloud storage and warehouses, handling schema drift and late-arriving data along the way. o Building and evolving layered data models that are reusable, well-documented, and performant for downstream analytics and AI use cases. o Provisioning and managing cloud data infrastructure on Azure and/or AWS o Operating and optimizing platforms like Databricks and Snowflake for reliability, performance, and cost efficiency. What the journey looks like in practice During your week, your time will be divided between our cozy Amsterdam HQ, home-office environments, and strategic visits to clients. Our Raamstraat office, with its uneven floors and canal-side beanbags, serves as the heart of the team's collaborative efforts, especially during Xomnia Fridays, when the team gathers to design together and resolve technical blockers over some good coffee. You'll partner closely with data analytics engineers, analysts, and data scientists, exposing clean, well-modeled datasets they can build on with confidence. ## Related Videos - [From Messy Queries to Scalable Systems - How Data Engineering actually works](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100203-from-messy-queries-to-scalable-systems-how-data-engineering-actually-works) - [Data Science in Retail](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/586-data-science-in-retail) - [Data Governance in the Era of AI](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1622-data-governance-in-the-era-of-ai) - [PySpark - Combining Machine Learning & Big Data](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/44-pyspark-combining-machine-learning-big-data) - [Empowering Retail Through Applied Machine Learning](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/976-empowering-retail-through-applied-machine-learning) - [Enjoying SQL data pipelines with dbt](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/823-enjoying-sql-data-pipelines-with-dbt) ## Related Articles - [Best Companies in the Netherlands: Top 25 Companies in 2023 ](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/193-best-companies-in-the-netherlands-top-25-companies-in-2023) - [The Netherlands – Europe’s powerhouse for software development?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/31-the-netherlands-europe-s-powerhouse-for-software-development) - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [How to Find Tech Jobs in Amsterdam](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/279-how-to-find-tech-jobs-in-amsterdam) - [Software Developer Salary in The Netherlands [2023]](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/217-software-developer-salary-in-the-netherlands-2023) - [How to land a developer job in Amsterdam](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/36-how-to-land-a-developer-job-in-amsterdam)
