As Firefly continues to scale, high-quality data and analytics are core to how we learn, prioritize, and deliver value to millions of users. We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to take ownership of analytics for a defined area within Firefly, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Design, and Marketing to turn data into clear insight and inform decision-making. In this role, you will work independently, define the analytical roadmap for your area, and be the go-to voice on what the data says and what it means for the business. This is a great opportunity to drive meaningful ownership over a product area with significant autonomy, while mentoring junior data scientists and helping shape the broader analytics strategy for a fast-scaling generative AI product. What you'll do: * Own analytics for a defined area within Firefly end-to-end, from metric definition through reporting, insight generation, and stakeholder communication. * Independently translate ambiguous product and business questions into structured analytical approaches with minimal guidance. * Identify patterns, trends, and relationships across datasets that surface new insights and directly influence product direction and business outcomes. * Conduct sound statistical analysis, recognizing errors, biases, and trade-offs within the business context; contribute to experimentation and testing where relevant to your area. * Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, and Marketing to define success metrics and guardrails aligned with user value and business goals. * Communicate and synthesize complex analyses into clear, actionable narratives for both technical and senior business stakeholders, with limited supervision. * Architect, build, and improve scalable self-serve dashboards, pipelines, and analytics tools that support your area and the broader organization. * Proactively identify data quality issues, logging gaps, and infrastructure needs, and drive resolution together with data engineering partners. * Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior data scientists; may contribute to technical interviewing and hiring decisions. * Take ownership of one or more technical projects from start to finish, and summarize progress, trade-offs, and recommendations to management. ## Related Videos - [How a Small Team Shrank a Microsoft Monorepo by 94%](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1236-how-a-small-team-shrank-a-microsoft-monorepo-by-94) - [3x Performance: A Humbling Journey](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100165-3x-performance-a-humbling-journey) - [Cutting LLM Costs Without Cutting Quality: How to Beat Proprietary LLMs with Fine-Tuned Open Source](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100151-cutting-llm-costs-without-cutting-quality-how-to-beat-proprietary-llms-with-fine-tuned-open-source) - [Data Science in Retail](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/586-data-science-in-retail) - [NoCode LiveCode: Leveraging AI Tools to Craft Fully Functional Apps!](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1169-nocode-livecode-leveraging-ai-tools-to-craft-fully-functional-apps) - [Git for Code Reviews](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/429-git-for-code-reviews) ## Related Articles - [Coffee with Developers - Maria Apazoglou - Making AI understandable for all in production](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/475-coffee-with-developers-maria-apazoglou-making-ai-understandable-for-all-in-production) - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers) - [How Much FAANG Companies Actually Pay Software Engineers in 2025](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/230-how-much-faang-companies-actually-pay-software-engineers-in-2025) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [Dev Digest 132 - Binging WADFlix?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/473-dev-digest-132-binging-wadflix) - [Dev Digest 129 - Now that's what I call private data!](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/468-dev-digest-129-now-that-s-what-i-call-private-data)
