This position provides hands-on experience supporting the technology needs of faculty, staff, and students while developing technical, customer service, and professional skills in a collaborative environment. UNM School of Law is comprised of academic operations, large law firm support, and a variety of legal centers that serve the State of New Mexico. As a result, the experience our student employees gain extends well beyond technical support and provides valuable exposure to professional, legal, and higher education technology environments. Duties include assisting with the maintenance of Windows-based laptops and desktops, Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365, multi-function and personal printers, and other technology resources throughout the Law School. Student employees will learn to use University IT systems, including NetID account management and Adobe Creative Cloud installation, while triaging work tickets and issues, troubleshooting technical problems, performing technical functions, and assisting in training faculty, staff, and students on the technologies supported by Law IT. Responsibilities also include assisting with common Microsoft Windows tasks such as mapping file shares, installing network printers, PC troubleshooting, resolving hardware and software issues on computers, scanners, printers, and mobile devices, deploying new computers and peripherals, imaging and setting up new systems, retiring old systems, and preparing equipment for UNM Surplus. Student employees will also assist with stocking common multi-function printers with consumables and maintaining a security-minded approach to all IT systems and services. The successful candidate should demonstrate excellent customer service skills and an interest in teaching, communicating, and furthering users' understanding of the technology services provided by the Law IT Department. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary. This position requires the ability to lift moderately heavy objects such as workstations and printers and to work under desks and around obstacles while installing or servicing computer equipment. While a technical background is preferred, it is not an absolute requirement. Students who are dependable, task-oriented, and engaged in the technologies we support are encouraged to apply and will find opportunities to develop both technical and professional skills. Student employees work closely with Law IT staff and have opportunities to learn new technologies, gain hands-on experience, and advance within UNM's Student Employment promotion ladder. Many of our former student employees, representing a variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, have gone on to full-time IT positions in Albuquerque and throughout the United States with organizations including the national laboratories, technical firms, federal courts, law firms, and other public and private employers. The Law School's business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We prefer student employees who can work 15-28 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters, although work schedules are adjusted to accommodate class schedules and approved time off. ## Related Videos - [Building a Cross-Platform BLE Client with Kotlin Multiplatform and Kable](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100250-building-a-cross-platform-ble-client-with-kotlin-multiplatform-and-kable) - [Closing Keynote by Joel Spolsky](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/615-closing-keynote-by-joel-spolsky) - [Back(end) to the Future: Embracing the continuous Evolution of Infrastructure and Code](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/440-back-end-to-the-future-embracing-the-continuous-evolution-of-infrastructure-and-code) ## Related Articles - [A Guide to Green Tech and Green IT Careers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/374-a-guide-to-green-tech-and-green-it-careers) - [The Best Job Search Websites of 2025](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/368-the-best-job-search-websites-of-2025) - [How to land a developer job in Amsterdam](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/36-how-to-land-a-developer-job-in-amsterdam) - [How Many Jobs Are Available in Technology?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/450-how-many-jobs-are-available-in-technology) - [How should you format your IT resume?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/68-how-should-you-format-your-it-resume) - [Best Companies in the Netherlands: Top 25 Companies in 2023 ](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/193-best-companies-in-the-netherlands-top-25-companies-in-2023)
