Evidence of Experience CV or Work History, Statement of Suitability, Leadership Delivering at Pace Communicating and Influencing Level of security checks required DBS Basic ## Description We're recruiting for a Head of Data Sharing here at Justice Digital, Data and Science. The successful candidate will lead the department's approach to data sharing, allowing us to leverage data from across the public sector and beyond to achieve our strategic objectives. They will oversee the Data Sharing Hub which aims to make it easier and quicker for the department to work with partners to deliver joint aims through the sharing of data. The Hub provides support to other teams, helping to shepherd projects which involve data sharing through governance processes (including seeking approval for Data Protection Impact Assessments and Data Sharing Agreements), utilising their knowledge of internal and external processes and stakeholders. Success in this role will be defined by excellence in both strategic and operational leadership. In the former by ensuring we are leveraging data sharing and maximising the value derived from cross-system partnerships. In the latter by driving down the time it takes the department to acquire data. Data sharing between public bodies can often take many years to agree, hampering progress towards greater join up and therefore leaving cracks between services open. This results in poor outcomes for members of the public and undermines public sector productivity. This role will address these challenges by focusing on making data sharing more efficient, leading to better connected public services. This role sits within Justice Data which exists to ensure that high quality data, and algorithms and tools built on that data, are available, trusted, and effectively used to improve decision making across the justice system. It plays a critical enabling role in delivering the department's strategic, operational, and transformation priorities by turning complex and fragmented data into meaningful insight and practical tools. The Data Sharing Hub supports teams across Justice Data, Justice Digital, and the department's analytical functions to share data to and from other organisations., * Lead the department's approach to data sharing, enabling the Ministry of Justice to leverage data from across the public sector and beyond to deliver strategic objectives. * Maximise the value derived from cross-system partnerships by identifying, shaping, and supporting opportunities to share data in pursuit of shared outcomes. * Drive improvements to the department's data sharing processes so that data can be acquired and shared more efficiently, reducing delays and enabling better joined-up public services. * Oversee the progression of data sharing projects through governance processes, including support for Data Protection Impact Assessments, Data Sharing Agreements, and related approvals. * Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, influencing senior leaders, partner organisations, and specialist teams to support successful data sharing outcomes. * Provide strategic advice and practical support to teams across Justice Data, Justice Digital, analytical functions and relevant frontline operations on data sharing requirements, routes, and dependencies. * Identify and resolve barriers to delivery, managing complex and sensitive issues to maintain momentum across multiple concurrent projects. * Lead and develop the Data Sharing Hub, creating a high-performing, collaborative environment with clear priorities and a strong focus on service delivery. Additional Information Working Arrangements & Further Information The MoJ offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business need allows. This is an informal, non-contractual form of flexible working that blends working from your base location, different MoJ sites and / or from home (please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas). All employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity. Some roles will not be suitable for Hybrid Working. Similarly, Hybrid Working will not suit everyone's circumstances. Arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate(s) and subject to regular review. For nationally advertised roles: All successful candidates will be appointed to the nearest viable office nearest to their home postcode and on its respective pay scale. This will be at either a HQ building (subject to desk allocation, a Justice Collaboration Centre (JCC) or a Justice Satellite Office (JSO) - See Map. All employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity). For current MoJ employees, your base location will need to be changed to the nearest viable office (to your home postcode), either at a HQ building, JCC or JSO within the National Office Network and moved its location's respective pay scale (any legacy arrangements/locations will need to be amended). Some of MoJ's terms and conditions of service are changing as part of Civil Service reform. The changes will apply to staff joining MoJ who are new to the Civil Service. Staff joining MoJ from other civil service employers will transfer onto the new MoJ terms if they are already on 'modernised' terms in their current post or onto 'unmodernised' MoJ terms if they are on 'unmodernised' terms at their current post. Details will be available if an offer is made. MoJ candidates who are on a specialist grade, will be able to retain their grade on lateral transfer.
