Desired Characteristics * Working knowledge of data quality dimensions relevant to AI readiness, including completeness, lineage, latency, and consistency, sufficient to judge whether a data product is fit for business consumption. * Awareness of OT connectivity and contextualization patterns such as OPC UA, MQTT, Unified Namespace, and plant historian platforms, sufficient to know what is feasible at the OT/IT boundary without owning the implementation. * Demonstrated influential leadership across technical and functional communities: able to drive alignment with site teams, process engineers, and supply chain planners, and to engage credibly with enterprise standards bodies and cross-functional councils. * Background in standards governance, understands the difference between a standard that is documented and one that is adopted, and has the experience to close that gap. * Working knowledge of how machine data is generated and collected on the shop floor, sufficient to have a credible technical conversation with process engineers without owning the engineering content. * Comfortable operating as a neutral convener across functions that have competing priorities, and able to drive alignment through the quality of the standard and the strength of relationships rather than through organizational authority. * Experience with industrial data platform engagements or vendor partnerships where data architecture standards were defined or negotiated across organizational boundaries. Work Authorization Requirement: GE Vernova will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. ## Description Defines and owns the global standard for how industrial data moves from manufacturing operations to business decisions across Gas Power Global Supply Chain. Positioned as a neutral peer to the Global Process Engineering Authority (GPEA) and Global Process Digital Authorities (GPDAs), this role defines the Integration Contract at the OT/IT boundary, governs how operational signals become business data elements, and ensures every site connects to a single global standard rather than building its own integration. Serves as the primary voice in the Modern Industrial Data Architecture (MIDA) engagement and in any industrial data architecture decision that affects how manufacturing data reaches the business., Global Standard Definition and Governance Authority * Own the Integration Contract: the global governing standard at the OT/IT boundary that defines how operational technology signals are structured, named, and handed off to enterprise systems. This standard is the reference point for every GPEA data collection initiative, every GPDA data consumption requirement, and every new technology introduction that touches machine or operational data. * Own change control governance for the Integration Contract: when signal structure, data definitions, or ERP integration patterns change, this role governs the process, assesses cross-system impact, and ratifies changes before they propagate across sites. * Define data product acceptance criteria for all MIDA-connected sites: what a data product must look like, how it must be validated, and what constitutes readiness for business consumption. * Maintain the target-state view of how industrial data flows across the Gas Power digital ecosystem, from machine to manufacturing execution systems to ERP to business decisions and ensure new technology introductions align to that architecture rather than fragment it. * Serve as the primary voice in the MIDA engagement and any industrial data architecture forum where standards affecting manufacturing data are defined or changed. Cross-Functional Alignment and Standards Deployment * Partner with the Global Process Engineering Authority as the primary upstream interface: the GPEA generates the data; this role defines the standard for how it is structured and handed off at the OT/IT boundary. Co-own the Integration Contract with the GPEA, ensuring OT and IT responsibilities are clearly delineated and jointly maintained. * Partner with Global Process Digital Authorities as the primary downstream interface: GPDAs consume the data in their respective process domains; this role ensures the global standard meets their consumption requirements and that changes to the standard are communicated and absorbed without disruption. * Partner with the New Technology Introduction Team to ensure every digital and AI solution evaluated or built against operational data meets the Integration Contract standard before piloting. Provide AI readiness guidance: assess whether data products are structured, complete, and reliable enough to support AI-enabled decisions, and define what remediation is required when they are not. * Partner with the Master Data Governance Team to ensure the Integration Contract and enterprise data standards are aligned, and that operational data fields map correctly to master data definitions across SAP and Oracle. * Partner with the Digital Automation Team to influence MIDA development and continuous improvement of the platform to enable future use cases as shop floor needs evolve. Site Network and Adoption * Build and coordinate a cross-functional network of site-level representatives spanning GPEA, GPDA, and Digital Technology disciplines who implement and sustain the Integration Contract locally across Gas Power manufacturing sites. * Establish and chair a cross-functional industrial data standards forum bringing together GPEA, GPDA, and Digital Technology representatives across sites. This forum is the ratification body for changes to the Integration Contract and data product acceptance criteria; decisions made here govern how data flows across the entire Gas Power manufacturing network. * Monitor Integration Contract compliance across sites, identify deviations, and drive corrective action. Feed lessons learned from each site implementation back into the global standard, so every subsequent deployment is faster and more consistent than the last. ## Related Videos - [Data Science, ML & AI in the Oil and Gas Industry at NDT Global - Dr. Katja Träumner](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1308-data-science-ml-ai-in-the-oil-and-gas-industry-at-ndt-global-dr-katja-traumner) - [Python-Based Data Streaming Pipelines Within Minutes](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1233-python-based-data-streaming-pipelines-within-minutes) - [Data Governance in the Era of AI](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1622-data-governance-in-the-era-of-ai) - [It's all about the Data](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/425-it-s-all-about-the-data) - [Unlocking Value from Data: The Key to Smarter Business Decisions-](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1367-unlocking-value-from-data-the-key-to-smarter-business-decisions) - [The Data Mesh as the end of the Datalake as we know it](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/156-the-data-mesh-as-the-end-of-the-datalake-as-we-know-it) ## Related Articles - [A Guide to Green Tech and Green IT Careers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/374-a-guide-to-green-tech-and-green-it-careers) - [Now is the time for industrialized software development](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/601-now-is-the-time-for-industrialized-software-development) - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers) - [How We Built a Worry-Free System That Runs for 10+ Years – And What We’d Do Again](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/751-how-we-built-a-worry-free-system-that-runs-for-10-years-and-what-we-d-do-again) - [Data Engineer Salary UK](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/253-data-engineer-salary-uk) - [How to Become an AI Engineer](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/331-how-to-become-an-ai-engineer)
