This role focuses on building scalable backend services on Amazon EKS, with the flexibility to use EC2, Lambda, or ECS when appropriate. You'll work closely with engineering teams, guide best practices, mentor developers, and ensure our microservices platform is secure, modern, and well-architected. Responsibilities * Architect and deliver REST-based microservices using containerized workloads on Amazon EKS, with the ability to select appropriate AWS compute services for each use case. * Develop backend NodeJS REST APIs using Fastify/NextJS frameworks with strong focus on performance, reliability, and security. * Build and maintain Kubernetes deployments, services, ingress rules, autoscaling, and workload security configurations. * Design secure API exposure using API Gateway, Application Load Balancer, and related AWS-native integration services. * Implement secure access to AWS services through IAM roles, IRSA, VPC endpoints, and private networking patterns. * Troubleshoot issues across application, container, Kubernetes, networking, and AWS infrastructure layers. * Develop and maintain architectural blueprints, roadmaps, and documentation for AWS-based microservices and applications. * Provide hands-on technical leadership by coaching and mentoring development teams on cloud-native design and best practices. * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance cloud-native engineering and CI/CD adoption. * Stay up to date with AWS advancements, especially in EKS, identity, networking, and container ecosystem enhancements. ## Related Videos - [30 powerful AWS hacks in just 30 minutes: Boost your developer productivity](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1624-30-powerful-aws-hacks-in-just-30-minutes-boost-your-developer-productivity) - [Nest.js - TypeScript in the backend can also be clean](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1033-nest-js-typescript-in-the-backend-can-also-be-clean) - [Docker Compose: Rediscovered](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1978-docker-compose-rediscovered) - [Rate-limiting using eBPF and Istio: How to protect your SaaS customers from themselves](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100220-rate-limiting-using-ebpf-and-istio-how-to-protect-your-saas-customers-from-themselves) - [Shipping Faster with Less: Render on Cloud Hosting, AI Workloads, and the Future of DevOps](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1894-shipping-faster-with-less-render-on-cloud-hosting-ai-workloads-and-the-future-of-devops) - [Streaming AI Responses in Real-Time with SSE in Next.js & NestJS](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1630-streaming-ai-responses-in-real-time-with-sse-in-next-js-nestjs) ## Related Articles - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [From Prototype to Production: Build AI Agents with This Free 4-Course Learning Path](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/655-from-prototype-to-production-build-ai-agents-with-this-free-4-course-learning-path) - [Navigating the AI Shift](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/629-navigating-the-ai-shift) - [What is Software Engineering in the Age of AI?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/640-what-is-software-engineering-in-the-age-of-ai) - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers) - [7 Cloud Computing Trends Coming in 2025 for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/412-7-cloud-computing-trends-coming-in-2025-for-developers)
