Your customers happen to be other engineers, so you care about how the platform feels to use, not just whether it works. You believe a platform should be a set of robust, resilient, and intuitive libraries rather than a collection of scripts, and you're curious about where people get stuck and why. You're eager to use AI-assisted development tools to move faster, improve the developer experience, and make the platform more reliable. What skills or experience do I need? * 3+ years of software engineering experience building and shipping complex backend systems * Strong skills in at least one modern backend programming language * Working knowledge of relational and non-relational databases * Solid understanding of cloud native or cloud hybrid solutions * A product mindset toward internal tooling - you seek out feedback from the engineers using what you build and iterate on it * Comfort using AI-powered engineering tools (e.g., Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar) in your day-to-day workflow Nice to have * Familiarity with our tech stack - Node.js, Go, TypeScript, React, RabbitMQ, MongoDB, Postgres, AWS * Prior experience developing tools that improve the developer experience * Experience building CI/CD pipelines and working with containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes) * Side projects or personal builds where you owned something end to end, from idea to real users ## Description * Write and maintain clean, high-quality, efficient, and well-tested code that aligns with project specifications * Design and implement the abstractions that bridge the gap between software engineering and DevOps * Talk to the engineers who use the platform, find where they lose time, and help turn that into prioritized work * Partner with Product and Engineering counterparts to build tooling that teams actually adopt * Develop and maintain technical documentation that helps engineers self-serve * Use AI-assisted tooling and automation workflows to improve developer productivity, accelerate troubleshooting, and strengthen platform reliability Key Collaborators * Engineering * DevOps * Product Management ## Related Videos - [Go with the Flow: Stop the Leaks Before Your Memory's a Waterfall!](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100073-go-with-the-flow-stop-the-leaks-before-your-memory-s-a-waterfall) - [Docker Compose: Rediscovered](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1978-docker-compose-rediscovered) - [From DevOps to Scaled DevOps: How We’re Rebuilding Continuous Delivery as a Platform](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100018-from-devops-to-scaled-devops-how-we-re-rebuilding-continuous-delivery-as-a-platform) - [Build and Deploy a Fullstack App with Open Source Tooling](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/775-build-and-deploy-a-fullstack-app-with-open-source-tooling) - [#90DaysOfDevOps - The DevOps Learning Journey](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/548-90daysofdevops-the-devops-learning-journey) - [The Evolving Landscape of Application Development: Insights from Three Years of Research](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1459-the-evolving-landscape-of-application-development-insights-from-three-years-of-research) ## Related Articles - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline) - [Dev Digest 131 - AI'm not sure about OSS](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/472-dev-digest-131-ai-m-not-sure-about-oss) - [Navigating the AI Shift](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/629-navigating-the-ai-shift) - [Dev Digest 132 - Binging WADFlix?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/473-dev-digest-132-binging-wadflix) - [Dev Digest 137 - AI'm not sure about this](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/485-dev-digest-137-ai-m-not-sure-about-this)
