This role will focus on maintaining and enhancing existing mainframe applications while driving transformation initiatives to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in COBOL development, mainframe environments, and a solid understanding of cloud integration and modernization strategies., Application Development & Maintenance * Design, develop, maintain, and enhance COBOL applications running on IBM mainframe systems (z/OS). * Ensure stability, performance, and reliability of business-critical batch and online processing systems. * Support existing applications while implementing improvements aligned with modernization goals. Legacy System Analysis & Modernization * Analyze and assess legacy COBOL codebases to identify dependencies, inefficiencies, and modernization opportunities. * Document system architecture, data flows, and business logic to support migration planning. * Recommend strategies for re-platforming, refactoring, or rewriting applications for cloud environments. Cloud Migration (GCP Focus) * Lead or contribute to migration initiatives moving COBOL-based workloads to Google Cloud Platform. * Re-engineer applications to ensure compatibility with cloud-native architectures, microservices, and containerized environments where applicable. * Collaborate with cloud architects and engineering teams to integrate COBOL applications with GCP services such as Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and Pub/Sub. Data Integration & Infrastructure Collaboration * Partner with data engineering teams to support data migration, transformation, and validation processes. * Work closely with infrastructure and DevOps teams to design scalable, secure, and efficient deployment pipelines. * Ensure data integrity and seamless integration between on-premise mainframe systems and cloud-based platforms.
