## About the Role

* Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, VPN, DNS and DHCP
 * Hands-on experience with at least one firewall technology such as Fortinet, Sophos, Cisco, Palo Alto or WatchGuard
 * Experience with monitoring and ticketing systems
 * Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
 * Linux knowledge & experience
 * Comfortable communicating directly with customers in German and English
 * A genuine growth mindset in learning and developing further within network and cyber security

Nice to have:

 * Hands-on experience with at least one firewall technology such as Fortinet, Sophos, Cisco, Palo Alto or WatchGuard
 * SIEM or security monitoring experience
 * Past experience Red Hat, Ubuntu or Debian

## Description

We're supporting a growing IT security organisation in Cologne that is looking for a Network Support Engineer to join its support team.

You'll work in a managed service environment, supporting customer network and security infrastructure and helping resolve technical issues across LAN, WAN, VPN and firewall environments.

What you'll be doing:

 * Troubleshooting network and security incidents within 2nd level support
 * Administering and operating firewall environments and Implementing firewall rule changes and security optimisations
 * Diagnosing issues across LAN, WAN, VPN, routing and switching
 * Monitoring and maintaining customer environments whilst supporting customer projects and new network/security implementations
 * Supporting 1st level teams with technical escalations
 * Investigating security events and supporting incident response
 * Documenting incidents, changes and technical solutions
