In this role, you will help design, build, operate, and continuously improve Copart's global network infrastructure, supporting enterprise data centers, remote offices, and critical business services worldwide. As a senior member of the team, you will lead technical initiatives, influence engineering decisions, mentor fellow engineers, and drive operational excellence across our global network. Ideal Candidate: * Ownership - Takes ownership of the health of the environment, not just assigned tasks. Proactively identifies issues, follows through on commitments, and consistently looks for opportunities to improve systems, processes, and documentation. Believes in leaving the environment better than they found it. * Engineering Mindset - Solves problems by understanding the "why," balancing technical excellence with operational practicality, and making decisions supported by data. * Continuous Improvement - Constantly looks for opportunities to improve systems, processes, automation, and documentation, leaving things better than they found them. * Collaborative - Shares knowledge, mentors others, communicates effectively, and recognizes that the best engineering outcomes come from strong teamwork. * Curious - Continually expands technical knowledge beyond networking, embracing automation, AI-assisted engineering, and emerging technologies to solve increasingly complex problems. "We hire engineers for their mindset, not just their résumé. Experience matters, but we place even greater value on ownership, technical judgment, curiosity, continuous improvement, and the ability to positively influence those around you.", * Own network projects from initial planning through implementation, validation, documentation, and operational handoff. * Lead the technical design, optimization, and deployment of enterprise network infrastructure across global data centers and remote sites. * Develop well-supported technical proposals by analyzing operational data, business requirements, performance metrics, and long-term scalability. Present recommendations with clear trade-offs, risks, and implementation strategies. * Provide technical leadership on cross-functional initiatives, driving engineering decisions through collaboration, sound technical judgment, and data-driven analysis. * Review engineering designs, implementation plans, and change requests to ensure alignment with network standards and operational best practices. * Serve as a technical mentor to junior engineers by providing guidance, sharing knowledge, and promoting engineering excellence and accountability. * Plan and lead network implementations, upgrades, migrations, and maintenance activities with minimal business impact. * Deploy, scale, and continuously improve enterprise networking solutions across global offices and data centers. * Support and optimize a global WAN environment consisting of Fortinet SD-WAN, Site-to-Site VPN, and point-to-point connectivity. * Analyze application behavior, network performance, and capacity trends to recommend infrastructure improvements. * Research, evaluate, and recommend technologies that improve network reliability, visibility, operational efficiency, and automation. * Develop, maintain, and enforce network standards, engineering best practices, and operational procedures. * Create and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, troubleshooting guides, and standard operating procedures. * Proactively monitor network health and resolve issues before they impact production services. * Lead troubleshooting efforts during complex infrastructure and application incidents, driving root cause analysis and permanent corrective actions. * Review, implement, and validate network changes in accordance with established Change Management (ITIL) processes. * Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliver scalable, reliable network solutions. * Act as a backup engineer on peer-owned projects to ensure continuity, knowledge sharing, and successful project delivery. * Participate in an on-call rotation supporting production infrastructure. * Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills while thriving in a collaborative engineering environment. * Experience with network automation, AI-assisted operations, or agentic workflows is highly desirable. * Provide periodic "smart hands" and physical support (e.g., server hardware swaps, cabling, component replacement) in collaboration with remote engineering and IT teams. ## Related Videos - [How Cisco embraced a DevOps culture within its network engineering team](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/99-how-cisco-embraced-a-devops-culture-within-its-network-engineering-team) - [Docker network without Docker](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1418-docker-network-without-docker) - [Dev & Test in the Cloud?
