**Published:** August 17, 2026 - **Apply:** https://jobs.military.com/career/310091/systems-engineer-mid-colorado-co-colorado-springs ## About the Role * Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.\n * Certification in DCWF Intermediate is required\n * 5+ years of relevant systems engineering, IT engineering, network engineering, or systems integration experience.\n * Must have and maintain an active DoD TS/SCI security clearance\n * Experience with systems engineering processes, including requirements management, interface management, integration, verification, and validation.\n * Experience troubleshooting complex IT systems and coordinating resolution of technical defects.\n * Experience supporting system sustainment, lifecycle management, technology refresh, or modernization activities.\n * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate reliability and availability data and develop actionable recommendations.\n * Ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, government stakeholders, and program leadership.\n * Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively across multiple engineering and operational teams.\n * Ability to obtain and maintain the required security clearance.\n, * Experience supporting Department of Defense or U.S. Space Force programs.\n * Experience working in a classified or mission-critical IT environment.\n * Experience with Red LAN or Air Force/Space Force network environments.\n * Experience with configuration management, change management, and technical baseline management.\n * Familiarity with reliability engineering concepts, availability analysis, and lifecycle management.\n * Experience developing critical component and spares strategies.\n * Experience supporting technology refresh and end-of-life replacement initiatives.\n * Familiarity with systems engineering frameworks and lifecycle methodologies.\n * Experience with tools used for requirements management, defect tracking, configuration management, and systems documentation.\n ## Description * Plan, design, integrate, and validate complex IT systems supporting mission-critical environments.\n * Manage system interfaces, requirements, verification activities, and sustainment engineering throughout the system lifecycle.\n * Lead interface definition, documentation, integration, and verification activities across system components and external interfaces.\n * Drive defect and Discrepancy Report (DR) triage, coordinating with engineering and operations teams to identify root causes, prioritize issues, and drive resolution.\n * Develop, maintain, and manage critical component lists, including identification of mission-essential hardware and software components.\n * Develop and maintain spares strategies to support system availability, maintainability, and operational readiness.\n * Coordinate technology refresh activities, including lifecycle planning, component replacement, system upgrades, testing, and transition to operations.\n * Analyze reliability and availability trends to identify recurring issues, system vulnerabilities, and opportunities for improvement.\n * Recommend and implement engineering improvements designed to increase system reliability, availability, maintainability, and mission performance.\n * Support system-level integration and testing activities, ensuring requirements are properly traced through verification and validation.\n * Coordinate with government, contractor, operations, and technical stakeholders to resolve system-level engineering issues.\n * Develop and maintain technical documentation, engineering artifacts, interface documentation, requirements traceability, and sustainment plans.\n * Participate in technical reviews, engineering working groups, configuration management activities, and program status meetings.\n * Provide technical recommendations to program leadership regarding system performance, lifecycle risks, modernization opportunities, and sustainment priorities.\n ## Related Videos -
