COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Reassignment: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Information Technology Specialist 2. Eligible List Appointment: Candidates must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for this title. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates who possess: * Experience administering Oracle Database (12c/19c) and PostgreSQL; * Strong SQL development skills; * Experience with Oracle PL/SQL and/or PostgreSQL PL/pgSQ0L; * Knowledge of Linux/UNIX; * Experience with RMAN or PostgreSQL backup and recovery tools (pg_dump, pg_basebackup); * Experience with database performance tuning using Oracle Enterprise Manager or PostgreSQL EXPLAIN ANALYZE; * Experience with database migration projects; and * Familiarity with Git, Flyway or similar DevOps tools. ## Description Duties Description The New York State Education Department's (NYSED) Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking candidates for an Information Technology Specialist 2 position within the Database Team. Reporting to the Information Technology Specialist 3, the Information Technology Specialist 2 will support the administration, maintenance, security, and optimization of the agency's database environments. The incumbent will be expected to provide a high level of customer service while performing technical work in support of enterprise database systems and ensuring the reliability, availability, security, and performance of critical applications and services.
