About This Role: As a Senior Network Engineer, you will serve as one of the County's senior technical resources responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting a large enterprise network that provides connectivity for public safety agencies, County government, and critical infrastructure. This position plays a key role in the continued modernization of the County network, including Cisco Software Defined Access (SDA), Catalyst Center, enterprise wireless, routing, network security, and data center connectivity. You will lead implementation projects, troubleshoot complex issues, mentor other engineers, and provide technical leadership for network modernization initiatives. Responsibilities include: * Design, deploy, and maintain Cisco Software Defined Access (SDA) fabrics across enterprise locations. * Engineer and administer Cisco Catalyst Center for network automation, assurance, provisioning, software lifecycle management, and policy-based networking. * Configure and troubleshoot OSPF, BGP, route redistribution, and enterprise routing across Cisco and Juniper platforms. * Administer Juniper routers running Junos supporting network and WAN connectivity. * Design, deploy, and maintain enterprise wireless infrastructure utilizing Cisco 5520 Wireless LAN Controllers, Catalyst 9800 embedded Wireless Controllers, and SDA Fabric Wireless. * Support IEEE 802.1X network authentication utilizing Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE). * Engineer and maintain Infoblox DNS, DHCP, and IP Address Management (IPAM) services. * Manage a large dark fiber infrastructure and Metro-Ethernet WAN services connecting County facilities and regional data centers. * Utilize Cisco ThousandEyes, SolarWinds, and Riverbed NetIM to monitor network health, perform root cause analysis, and improve service reliability. * Perform advanced troubleshooting across Layers 1 through 7 using packet captures, routing analysis, optical diagnostics, and performance monitoring tools. * Lead network modernization projects, technology refreshes, and infrastructure migrations with minimal impact to County operations. * Participate in after-hours maintenance windows supporting critical infrastructure upgrades. * Provide Tier 3/Tier 4 engineering support and mentor junior engineers. ## Related Videos - [How Cisco embraced a DevOps culture within its network engineering team](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/99-how-cisco-embraced-a-devops-culture-within-its-network-engineering-team) - [Your Infrastructure Is Not a Playground: AI Agents for Infra Done Right](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2084-your-infrastructure-is-not-a-playground-ai-agents-for-infra-done-right) - [Computer Vision from the Edge to the Cloud done easy](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/263-computer-vision-from-the-edge-to-the-cloud-done-easy) - [Demystifying application networking in the cloud](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/675-demystifying-application-networking-in-the-cloud) - [Small, Secure, Interconnected: The next Internet Protocol](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100062-small-secure-interconnected-the-next-internet-protocol) ## Related Articles - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers) - [How We Built a Worry-Free System That Runs for 10+ Years – And What We’d Do Again](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/751-how-we-built-a-worry-free-system-that-runs-for-10-years-and-what-we-d-do-again) - [Best Paying Jobs in Technology](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/256-best-paying-jobs-in-technology) - [Is Software Engineering Over-Saturated?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/418-is-software-engineering-over-saturated) - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [The Most Popular IT Jobs on the Market](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/376-the-most-popular-it-jobs-on-the-market)
