Research consistently shows that candidates from underrepresented groups apply less often than is warranted - if this opportunity is a positive challenge for your career, please apply. ## Description The Device Platform team owns the backend between Verkada's cloud and the hardware we ship - device provisioning, OTA firmware rollout, and the licensing layer that turns devices into a business. Verkada already operates at millions of devices, and we're scaling the platform for the next order of magnitude - with the consistency, latency, and uptime guarantees our enterprise customers depend on. Hitting that scale isn't just a technical problem. We're creating the IoT core that every product team across Verkada relies on to accelerate their roadmaps. We do as much cross-team alignment as deep systems design, and hold a high bar on both execution and communication with our peers. We're five senior engineers today, with a new-grad joining us this summer - and we're hiring more as the platform's reach across Verkada grows. We're high-trust and inclusive: we give and receive feedback directly, we learn out loud, and we get better together because of it. What You'll Do * Senior engineers on this team architect, ship, and bring others along. We learn and teach as we build. * Design and lead major platform features end-to-end, such as the IoT core, the device-metrics platform, or the licensing ledger. * Lead operational improvements that increase system robustness, reduce pager noise, and help the team learn from incidents when they occur. * Teach as you ship - through design reviews, code reviews, crisp written communication, and direct mentorship. * Listen to other Verkada teams, and help drive the platform's roadmap toward the company's biggest long-term bets., At Verkada, we want to attract and retain the best employees, and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate's skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of restricted stock units (RSUs) ## Related Videos - [Coffee with Developers: David Heinemeier Hansson](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/875-coffee-with-developers-david-heinemeier-hansson) - [DevOps at Netflix](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/270-devops-at-netflix) - [Stop using Node.js like in 2020!
