Experience in: * Designing and operating event-driven and stream-processing systems on Kafka or Kinesis. * Creating and working with scalable Java-based micro-services. * Working with databases (preferably Postgres or other SQL based DB). * Building systems in a multi-cloud environment. We use AWS & GCP but value experience in other cloud environments such as Azure. * Working in an agile software development environment. Desirable and helpful (but not necessary) are experience in: * Building shared platforms consumed by other engineering teams - API design, versioning, and backward-compatibility considerations. * Experience with investigating large and complex codebases. * Hands-on experience with Java. * Creating API's/web services: REST, OpenAPI/Swagger is a plus. * Container-orchestration: Docker & Kubernetes. * Enjoy database related work: DynamoDB, MongoDB, Postgres. * Observability tooling (metrics, tracing, logs) and running production systems at scale. * Analytical approach to problem solving. * Personal drive and maintaining a high pace - while taking responsibility for things working. * Willingness to vocalize your ideas and pick yourself up if you get knocked down. In-office Commitment: This position requires a commitment to contribute to our collaborative culture by working in-office Three days weekly. ## Description * Build and evolve the core platforms behind every visibility product - event ingestion, milestone computation, webhook and notification delivery, scheduled work, and shared APIs used across all modal teams. * Design event-driven systems that process high-throughput carrier data reliably and with low latency. * Own reliability, performance, and scalability of the platforms your team operates. * Building systems in a multi-cloud environment.
