This role bridges the gap between complex information architecture and fast-paced, interactive product validation-translating intricate data structures, content models, and diverse user needs into intuitive interaction patterns. Operating in an agile, cross-functional environment alongside product managers, researchers, and engineers, you will lead the creation of scalable experience concepts, shape future-state visions, and rapidly bring ideas to life through medium- and high-fidelity prototypes. This position requires approximately 25% quarterly travel along the Northeast Corridor (connecting D.C., Philadelphia, Wilmington, and NYC) to facilitate strategic PI Planning activities and drive executive alignment. location: Washington, Washington, D.C. job type: Contract salary: $50 - 55 per hour work hours: 9am to 5pm education: Bachelors responsibilities: Architect complex information frameworks, taxonomies, content models, and scalable navigation structures to bring clarity to enterprise ecosystems. Rapidly build, test, and iterate low-, medium-, and high-fidelity interactive prototypes to validate product concepts and hypotheses early and often. Map end-to-end user journeys, personas, user flows, and ecosystem maps that capture customer needs and business objectives. Plan and execute usability studies, synthesize feedback, and use continuous user insights to optimize digital solutions. Deliver compelling, executive-ready storytelling artifacts that align product, engineering, and business stakeholders around a unified experience vision. Facilitate hands-on design and planning sessions, including quarterly Program Increment (PI) Planning events across regional offices. qualifications: Location & Mobility: Must be based in the Washington, D.C. metro area and willing to travel up to 25% regionally (specifically along the DC-Wilmington-PHL-NYC corridor) for quarterly planning. Core Expertise: Senior or Lead-level background in Experience Architecture, UX Design, or Product Design with a proven track record of solving complex data and workflow challenges. Rapid Prototyping Mastery: Advanced proficiency in modern design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Axure) to swiftly generate functional interactive models. Information Architecture: Deep expertise in IA, taxonomies, content modeling, and structured design systems. Research & Testing: Hands-on experience creating validation plans, conducting usability tests, and synthesizing data into actionable design iterations. Agile & Executive Communication: Experience working within Agile/SAFe frameworks, running co-design sessions, and presenting strategic design concepts to executive leadership.
