Cloud Infrastructure: Strong hands-on experience designing and operating production environments on AWS (EC2, IAM, VPC, S3, CloudWatch). Data Science Tooling: Familiarity with R, Python, Jupyter notebooks, and package management systems (e.g., pip, conda, renv) to support multi-language data environments. Platform Experience: Proven track record of administering enterprise data science or developer platforms (e.g., Posit/RStudio, JupyterHub, Databricks, Domino Data Lab, or similar notebook/publishing tools). Communication & Support: Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate user feedback into infrastructure improvements. Preferred Qualifications Hands-on administrative experience specifically with Posit Connect, Posit Workbench, or Package Manager. Experience integrating containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes) within a data science workflow. Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. ## Description We are seeking an experienced Posit Platform Engineer / Administrator to own, operate, and scale our data science ecosystem, anchored by Posit Connect and Posit Workbench. Operating on AWS and Linux, this environment serves as the central hub for our analysts and data scientists to build, deploy, and share mission-critical data products. While direct Posit experience is valued, we prioritize candidates with a deep background in Linux, cloud infrastructure, and comparable analytics platforms who can jump in, partner with technical users, and drive operational excellence. Key Responsibilities Platform Lifecycle Management: Handle end-to-end installation, configuration, scaling, patching, and routine upgrades for Posit Workbench, Posit Connect, and associated tooling. Cloud & Infrastructure Operations: Manage the underlying AWS architecture, ensuring high availability, disaster recovery readiness, storage management, and robust networking. Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain rigorous access controls, single sign-on (SSO) integrations, role-based permissions, and environment monitoring to secure sensitive data workflows. User Enablement & Support: Act as the primary escalation point for troubleshooting platform issues, onboarding new users, and optimizing code deployment pipelines for R and Python.
