This SG7-level role combines hands-on technical expertise with supervisory responsibilities, supporting advanced teaching, research, and innovation activities across the Faculty. The postholder will lead the specification, procurement, deployment, and lifecycle management of specialist engineering and scientific equipment, including the modernisation of legacy systems, while managing the acquisition and deployment of specialist software in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Acting as a technical expert, they will assess user requirements, develop technical standards, procedures, and documentation, oversee service delivery and incident resolution in line with agreed service levels, and provide strategic guidance to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and effectiveness of technical services. The role also includes maintaining oversight of specialist equipment inventories, producing service and performance reports, and supporting the development of staff, systems, and processes to ensure an exceptional experience for students, researchers, and academic colleagues.
